Any other newbies like me needing some encouragement?

:sniff: I'm feeling a little lost. I am just starting out and could use some support and encouragement. :kiss Anyone else just starting out? Maybe we could start the journey together and give daily support and encouragement to each other. :blushkiss Sometimes we all need someone to light a fire under us to get us back up and moving. :nono: Or, sometimes we just need a place to whine. Whatever it takes to get us to the next test. :specs: If enough people are interested maybe we could form a group or something. Lisa, just start at the beginning and put one foot in front of the other.

What are you doing? There are many of us in many different programs. I'm doing an online RN to BSN at Florida Hospital College of Health Sciences. It's been tough, but I'm learning.

Good luck to you in whatever you do!

I gather you are in a distance learning degree program? I've been at University of Phoenix for 26 months now and whew - I know all about the "kick me" to get me in gear. If I can help, let me know. As it is this am - I got up early to go to school, but the site is down - grrrr.

I'm doing the excelsior Lpn to RN. I am just starting out with courses I can clep. My first test will be Sociology. I have ADD and my main problem is staying focused and not giving up. I love this message board because I can how far everone has come. It's very inspirational. Lisa

Lisa, there are several people on this board in Excelisior. Anytime you need encouragement, you'll get it.

Good luck. I too have trouble staying focused. I study in spurts because I get restless sitting down.

Don't quit! It's a long hard road, but one day, one course, one step at a time you can do this!

Hello Lisa, I am now studying for my 2nd exam (Lifespan). I must admit that was in a bit of a slump following the holidays and a recent extended illness but I am now getting into it again. I just found this group and reading the post really inspires me.

Hi. I just finished my last Excelsior exam today (was lifespan, I made an A) and am now studying for the CPNE. I started in November of '04 and finished the exams portion today...sure feels good to do that. Once you take that first step and just sign up for the exam you will feel motivated to go on with the rest.

I suffer from severe depression and it can have some of the same symptoms as ADD, especially the zero concentration level. It has been an issue a couple of times while I have been enrolled with Excelsior but luckily it didn't hold me back long.

I'm also just starting out on the LPN to RN journey through Excelsior. I've been working on Nursing Concepts 1 for about 3 weeks. I think if I can just make it through my first exam, I'll be ok. It's kind of scary when I don't know exactly what to expect. I'll be glad to offer/receive any support/encouragement I can. This is something I've wanted to do for 12 years now and I've finally taken the leap. I'd be interested in forming a group or something. Just let me know how. I'm totally new to this website, but it's been really helpful ! :)

Girl all the best to you. i am in my second semester in an adn rn program. school is not my thing either i have add so studying can be hard for me too. keep it up you are going to get htrough this!

Hi. I am actually searching the site for info and encouragement as well. I have recevied the packet from Excelsior, but I'm still scared to sign up. My situation: I have been an LPN since 1998. Attempted an RN program 70 miles from home. It was a fast track program. Didn't pass my first semester so I was out. I have a problem with test taking. I get too nervous and freak myself out. I'm getting ready to head back to work in a Per Diem position and I'm hoping to start with Excelsior if I can get the nerve. If I understand my packet, I apply ($65), enroll $900, and then they'll tell me what classes I need. Does this sound right to everyone? I think a few of my classes from my previous nursing course (English Comp, Psych, and Soc.) will roll over. Not sure. Also, about how long is it taking everyone from the time you get your packet to the time you take your tests - and - exactly what comes in your packet. Are the extra books necessary? Sorry its sounds like alot of questions, but I'm a nervous wreck. Already owe $7000 from a program I didn't get to finish. You can email any opinions to [email protected]. Would be so happy for some encouragement and insight. Thanks a million. Paula

I would love to start an encouragement group, I just started and posted 2 enquires with little response. I am doing it thru Cancellors and I am unsure if that is going to be enough, tried a pol but only got 2 resposes, saw Lisa's notes and it's SO HARD to get started without much direction. I did not buy the suggested books and am woundering if Chancellors is going to be the right way to go about it> I have the time, single without kids or a life so why can't I get going maybe i need a friendly push!!!!!Please tell me how you are planning on studying and if you have gathered any good info on how to do it best, greatly appreciated in advance for any resposes , love lids:wink2:

I'm just getting ready to start back to work in a PerDiem position, so I can keep weekends free. I have two daughters (8 and 4), so I'm hoping to study while they are in school. I just really scared financially to take that first $1000 step to get started with Excelsior. Last fall, I purchased a CD from ebay that had Nursing Concepts 1-7 notes and materials. I have looked through much of the information. Seems like it will be a big help. I think I'm just needing the encouragement to get started. I have a tendency to doubt myself. Seems I'm spending alot of time on forums trying to hear everyone else's stories before I make a commitment. Thanks for listening. Will be back daily for more encouragement.
