Any good tips for studying for Anantomy

Published

I just failed my Anantomy class and I'm super bummed out about it. Is there any tips you guys would recommend for studying Anantomy?

Should I retake it my next semester or should I wait? I'm currently working part time and have 2 little ones. What you you guys recommend?

I definitely learned my lessen and not pair this class with psychology and math.

Well, why did you fail? Did you not study enough? Did you find the material too difficult? Did you not have a good balance? I'd make sure I knew why I failed, and how to fix it before taking the class again.

As far as studying - repetition, repetition, repetition. Write things down, make flash cards, write things down again. Take pictures, print them off and study them. Quiz yourself, create sets on Quizlet, go to any tutoring sessions offered, study with friends.

Currently I'm about to finish my Anatomy class with the second highest grade in the class. What I do to study is I record my lectures and re-write my notes so it: makes it easier to study and helps me absorb the information. I would then continuously re-write my notes until I have it memorized (if I mess up once, I redo all of it). Teaching others will help a lot too and build friendships, which is always cool! For material that's more numerous/memorization (like memorizing all the bones or muscles), I make flashcards. I even bought flashcards so I can review in the long term. Repetition is emphasized here and don't ever be afraid to ask your professor questions (my professor makes me look stupid in front of the whole class whenever I do, but you just gotta do it!) If you find that you're running out of time to study, make sure you reconsider if you're studying EFFICIENTLY or if family/job is really hindering your studying. If that's the case, you're going to have to make tough decisions. I hope I helped a little and have a good one!

I basically moved and the stress of commuting 2-3 hrs one Way took time away from my studying. I work part time but it's mainly the commute I have to do that takes times away from studying. I was able to pass my human Anantomy but I was constantly studying. I would study at night when I got home from work. This was when I lived in the same city. I would study during my breaks at school and in the early morning. I studied a lot for human bio and I feel like this semester I didn't have much time to study because of my fat commute.

I use the MP3 tutor sessions that came with my textbook; they're available online here:

Chapter 1: The Human Body: An Orientation

I also listen to two anatomy podcasts and watch Wendy Riggs's videos and Crash Course A&P. Sometimes I convert the YouTube videos into MP3s so I can listen when I'm driving. Since you're commuting, I would recommend all of these audio options. I listen to a podcast every single night while I'm falling asleep. In the morning when I'm waking up, I repeat as much of whatever system I'm studying to myself as I can remember and then I get up and study.

jess.mont ~ Wow, this is hugely helpful! I just subscribed to both of those podcasts.

I am starting A&P 101 in January, and I have a feeling I am going to need all the help I can get. I'm using the TEAS Mastery app on my phone right now, and what I've discovered is that the Reading/LA stuff comes naturally to me -- but the Math & Science may be a killer! :wideyed:

I scored a total of 99% in my anatomy course and it was through re-writing my notes. I organize my notes in a way that is easy for me to recall something.

thanks everyone for all the helpful tips. I enrolled into A&P for the spring semester and ready for this class. Going to study from my coloring book before the semester begins. going to read the chapters and power points before the classes so i wont be so surprised to what she will be teaching. going to review my text book that i decided to keep. it was deff a bummer that i had to retake these classes but feeling more confident this time around. I will download these podcasts which for sure will help me!
