LA County Nursing Applicants for Spring 2017-Generic Option
How did your friend perform -- grade wise? Is it impossible to achieve a 3.5+ gpa? Some other comments emphasized the difficult nature of this program. I wouldn't doubt it. I'm just not sure if its "worth it." I want to continue my education in the future, so I would need decent grades. I put in a lot of effort when it comes to academia but sometimes there is that one professor that is nearly impossible to work with.

For those who were accepted, can you list some pros and cons for the schools that you were admitted to? I read earlier that someone is commuting from palm springs...that's like a 2-hour commute is it not? What makes this school so much better than other CCs or universities?

How long did you study for the TEAS...
I studied for six weekends because I work full time M-F. On those weekend, I probably spent around ~10 hours each day studying. I don't suggest this because I would forget what I studied for during the weekdays so it was hella inefficient.

How do we submit the TEAS for the ABSN application? Just through the ATI website?

How I Got a 97.3% on My TEAS VI.
I can only speak for Practice Assesement B. The reading portion was more difficult in my opinion. The answer choices were very similar and the correct answer wasn't as obvious as the practice exam. The math part was actually very similar (if not easier) than the practice questions. Lots of word problems but very simple as long as you know how to set them up. The science portion was the most "***" to me. Not that it was super difficult but the questions were really random. The answer choices were even more random. Just really study the science section of the ATI study manual. Do the practice questions and find out why each answer choice is wrong/right and then think of how the test makers can use those to "flip" the questions around. The english section was similar to the practice exam. It might've been easier.

ATI TEAS 6 Advice and Recommendations!
No formulas were given for the math sections for my test. One of my questions required knowing the area of a circle in terms of PI given the radius. The formula was not given so yeah...

Any good tips for studying for Anantomy
I scored a total of 99% in my anatomy course and it was through re-writing my notes. I organize my notes in a way that is easy for me to recall something.

Nursing entrance Exams...Is it just me or?
I thought I was the only one that felt like this. The math + English sections were similar to all the practice exams. But the reading and science were ridiculous. If it wasn't for the fact that I already took anatomy & physio, the science portion would've definitely hurt me much more.

Just took the TEAS6 and got a 90%!
I took my exam this morning so I'll add to this a bit. I went in feeling quite crappy. I didn't get enough sleep and my stomach wasn't feeling well. I took the paper version so my score is not out yet but I'm sure I didn't score that great :\ Anyways, here are things about the test that I wish I knew: Reading: - Know the difference between main topic, supporting sentences, themes, etc. They will all be part of a question and you will have to identify what they're asking. - Know where to find information such as encyclopedia, dictionary, newspaper, etc. I didn't have any questions on index, table of contents, or anything like that... - Be able to follow directions!!! Especially directions for cooking food...There were plenty of questions on these. - Know the difference between expository vs informative vs persuasive. I had a few questions regarding this. - Know which person is more qualified for a certain ad posting. I always got down to two answer choices. Honestly, both answers look similar to me. But I'm sure one is "better" and what the test makers are looking for. Overall, I felt the reading section was a bit more difficult for me than usual. The questions are structured similar to the practice exams I took but the answers were confusing (at least to me). Math: - Lots of proportion questions (LOTS!!!) So brush up on those. - Know order of operations : PEMDAS - Know your conversions - A couple simple geometry questions I don't really have more to say about the math section. I'm horrible at mathematics but I thought this section was do-able. This section was easier on the actual exam than the practice exams that I took. The only gripe I have with this section was that one of the questions I could not get the right answer. It asked for the total but the answer choice wasn't there.... Science: - Know your organelles and their functions - Know the different sections of the organs for the digestive system (ex. small intestine is composed of duodenum, jejunum, ileum) - Know the endocrine system and the glands/hormones associated with all the other organ systems. - Know the neuromuscular system and its components (ex. what is a neuron? acetylcholine/acetylcholinesterase, myosin/troponin/actin) - Know the reproductive system - the hormones and structures involved. (ex. structure B connects structure A to structure C (hint...)) - Know the layers of the integumentary system and where everything is found. (ex. basale contains melanocytes). - Know about Mendel and his experiments - Know scientific method - I had like 1 question on # of electrons lol and another on condensation/vaporization. I underestimated this section. The questions were very specific which I wasn't expecting. These questions were more like the 2-3 end-of-section practice questions in the ATI manual. I suggest you go through the answer choices and figure out why the answer was wrong/right and how the test makers can make the answers into their own questions. English: - Know subject-verb agreement - Know pronoun-antecedent - Know adverb vs noun vs adjective vs conjunction etc - Know informal vs formal - Know grammar rules for parenthesis, spelling, quotations, commas, colons, semi colons etc - Know prefixes/suffixes The English section was actually not that bad compared to the practice questions. I felt like the answer was obvious once you go through each choice. Overall, I thought the test wasn't that difficult but I was still surprised. I'll update with my score when I get it. Hopefully it's around 96th/97th percentile.

TEAS 6
Was the actual exam more like the practice A or B? What's the difference between both? I only purchased B...
-
Opinion on Study Manual for TEAS-6
What would you say makes practice exam B harder than exam A? I only purchased B since there is a general consensus that version B was more difficult. I figure it was better to study what was more difficult.

I'm trying to apply for Fall but might not be able to get into a Lifespan Psychology class. That is the only prereq left. Will I still be considered? Or will my application be flat our rejected?
