Any Fall 2008 UCLA - MECN Program Applicants out there?

Are any of you starting to get anxious about the forthcoming decisions? We have another month or so yet to know, but I still want to know NOW! :innerconf ... Wanna share in the waiting process? Have you heard anything about the # of people they are accepting? Anything?

hello everyone,

i contacted shelli and she said that there will be a mandatory orientation on friday, august 1. i told her that i might not be in the area, and she kindly stated that i should arrange my flights before or after august 1st as this is the day that no one would want to miss. we will take our id pictures, meet the son staff, greet students from other mecn cohorts, have the staff show us all the resources that son offers to its students. additonally, if any of you have a dire question to ask, this is the day for you to get all of your questions answered. as we approach near orientation day, she will send us an e-mail regarding parking, meeting place, etc.

to the wait-listers, your status on the waiting list changes every week, so send shelli an e-mail after april 4th to see where you stand. she won't be sending you guys e-mails as she is too busy dealing with other paper work in the office. be persistent and always keep your hope up.

i know it's still a bit early, but has anyone on the waitlist gotten any new info on movement? i'm starting to get that anxious feeling from a month ago all over again!

I know what you mean---it's so hard to wait again. I haven't heard anything yet. Shelli did tell me that there really weren't any declines as of last week, but expected them to be coming later anyway. They will try to contact the accepted people that have not responded as of Apr 4.

do you know if she mentioned how many of those accepted have responded?? i really hope there will be lots of declines this week lol... just a few more days until we find out!!!

I'm on the waitlist too and haven't heard any news either. I hope we get in. We have had to deal with the same stress twice. We all know the stress we are each going through so it makes it easier to be going through this together. I am going to try calling Shelli on the fourth. She is so nice and sweet that I feel guilty calling and bugging her but I really want to get an update. Lets stay optimistic:):up::)

to everyone on the waiting list, i'm praying for you guys to get the good news tomorrow. i bet you that there will be several people calling in tomorrow (the deadline)to notify son on whether or not he/she wants a seat for fall 2008. it's always like that where people call in at the very last minute. i assume that the son office closes around 5:00 p.m. so call/send her an e-mail between 4:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. if you call her at 9 a.m., i don't think she can tell you on the spot whether or not you are in.

be assertive and tell her that you need to know today. even if she tells you that i can't tell you until monday, tell her that you need to know your status today (friday). keep in mind that you need to give yourself enough time to mail your housing application to the housing office. only a small number of housing units are allocated to son graduate students. you need to know asap so you can get your housing application to the housing office by april 11. this is not the postmark deadline. the housing office must receive your application by this date.

fyi, i left shelli a message asking for an update on my status when she gets a moment. that was about an hour ago. still haven't heard back and i'm guessing i won't until next week. please leave a note if anyone hears anything. thanks!

Thanks for that housing deadline UCLA Nursing! Also, just to remind everyone the housing application can be done online as well, so you don't have to worry about mailing it in.
