Are any of you starting to get anxious about the forthcoming decisions? We have another month or so yet to know, but I still want to know NOW! :innerconf ... Wanna share in the waiting process? Have you heard anything about the # of people they are accepting? Anything?
Thanks for that housing deadline UCLA Nursing! Also, just to remind everyone the housing application can be done online as well, so you don't have to worry about mailing it in.For those that are attending, I'd love to friend you on Facebook or Myspace...PM me your info if you're interested in becoming friends :-]
Is there a Facebook group for UCLA students?
Hello RedHead85,
I sent you PM containing how you would go about in adding me on these social networks. Thanks for the cordial post.
UCLA Nursing I couldn't find you based on the info you gave me, I PM'ed you in reply. Hope we can connect soon :) I'm all for the idea about starting a Yahoo group...we are going to need the support from each other, and its a good way for us to get to know one another beforehand as well!

Hello RedHead85,
I just sent you an add request. Check your e-mail. I look forward to getting to know you. See, it is difficult to find me on any social network. Some of my friends have a hard time finding me. If you type my full name in the search engine, you will find many people who share the same full name that I have. I usually end up finding my buddies on these social networks.
Oh man, I just read my email for the first time today and saw that there has been NO movement on the waitlist as of today. This is the worst news! I really can't believe it. So every single person who was accepted ended up taking their spot?? Aaaahh the disappointment! Did anyone else on the wl get the same news? Ok, I will work through the emotions a little here. Moving from shock and disbelief, to disappointment, to trying to accept it. Yeah, acceptance is going to take a while. What a tease this waitlist thing has been! I was way too optimistic. I was told that over 20 people got in last year. Goes to show how quickly these programs can take off. GGGaahhhhh. Can I just show up on the first day with you guys anyways? (uh oh, denial is setting in )
sorry to hear about the lack of movement on the waitlist. but keep in mind that CSUN has not notified anyone if they've been granted an interview. there's a chance that others may bail before it's all said and done. also, check out that other CSU school that i posted about a couple of weeks ago on this thread. their deadline isn't until next month, i think.
Hi lucy001,
I agree with you 100%. This experience has been so crushing. When I heard over 20 people from the waitlist made it in last year I became very optimistic. It definitely was a tease. We have had to wait so long to get horrible news. When Shelli told me that no one had rejected the offer, I couldn’t believe it! In fact I’m still in denial given what happened last year. All the built up anticipation and hope has made this news even more crushing than if I had heard from the get go. I had let my friends and family know that I was on the wait list. I regret telling them that because now I have to tell them that my chances of getting in this year is pretty non-existent.
To Lucy001 and all you other people on the wait list who were patiently waiting, I know how you feel. As horrible as that news was, let’s not give up. If not this year, next year we can make it in.
Ahhhhhh!!!! Sorry about being dramatic, but this news was so hard to take.

Hello fingercrossed and wait-listers,
What you heard about "over 20 people from the waiting list last year made it in" is true. Schools like CSU Long Beach have a later deadline so some won't be hearing from CSULB until May (or even June!). When May or June rolls around, some students will give up their seats to attend other schools. It may not seem like the waiting list is moving, but do know that your status can change any time between now and July. Hang in there and keep your hope up. :wink2:
Hello everyone,
I find this interesting to read, so I thought about sharing it with you guys. I wonder what's the stress level like for medical students. https://allnurses.com/forums/f8/nursing-school-vs-nursing-292091.html
Enjoy!
I just spoke with Shelli and she said that to be honest, I wasn't going to make it up the waitlist. She said that no one (up to date, within the past 10 mins) ABSOLUTELY NO ONE has declined the UCLA offer which is very rare! She said they DO have until September 1st when classes start, for ppl to rescind their offers but not down to my position (#16). Not my sad, sad low spot on the list.
Thanks for the encouragement UCLA_Nursing. It is very sweet of you to keep rooting for us!
I was wondering if anyone who accepted their spot could tell me if you had to pay a deposit with your letter of intent? I am thinking that if you didn't, then there is a greater chance that people may still change their minds--that it is understandable that everyone accepted if there is not a huge commitment involved in saying so. If there was a deposit, how much was it?

Thanks, RedHead85 for the housing information. :wink2:Yeah, it would be much quicker to do it online than to snail mail the housing application. The best thing is you don't have to bring your car to campus four times a week. Also, near the end of the program, I wouldn't have to deal with an enormous debt.
Yes, I would love to know my classmates on these social networks. The CSULA ELM for summer 2008, UCSF and Columbia threads are very interesting to read. It is exciting to read the UCSF thread because people are meeting up before the term begins for social gatherings and other fun activities. Current students in the CSULA ELM are providing a warm welcome to its new cohort which I find to be very cheerfully encouraging. I hope we get a great deal of support and guidance from the previous cohort and from SON. If we don't have that sort of encouragement from SON, it's okay. I do hope everyone will work together to complete this rigorous program.
I want feel connected with my UCLA classmates. Maybe it is too early now and not many of our classmates are aware of what AllNurses.com has to offer. Anyways, I really look forward to get to know each of you. Some people in our class may prefer to work alone, but really, in nursing school you cannot do the work by yourself. It requires team work. I was thinking of forming a Yahoo Group so that we can organize the information we have from SON and mass e-mail everyone important information.
Has anyone here started a Yahoo Group? If no one has, I can go ahead and create a group for our incoming classmates.
