Hi y'all
Just wanted to see if there are any CSUDH MEPN Fall 2008 applicants out there who would like to join me in the wait. Does anyone know if interviews are finished? I had mine on April 10th. Does anyone know how accurate the school is with their first week of June deadline of notification? Hope to hear from somebody:wink2:
Hi everyone,
I too did not get that much. Dont get me wrong, im grateful that they had at least a little too offer for a grant but according to them, im 7,000 dollars short from my financial need, i plan to call them tomorrow, i believe the next step would be to get unsubsidized loans since they gave me a grant and then a subsidized loan, for this reason im not going to accept just yet, im hoping that they have other loan alternatives, hopefully!

as far as I understand, the financial aid package is before they deduct registration fees, so whatever they plan to give you per semester, subtract about 2,000 dollars for registration fees
Just got my financial aid awards summary. It's not much. Looks like I'm going to be living off of Top Ramen and selling my plasma for the next 2 years.
Same here,
It showed the total amount of a grant and subsidized loan. I will try and e-mail them again to ask if they will also offer an unsubsidized gov't loan. If so, it can allow us to take up to $20k more a year with the same interest rate. I would LOVE to talk to financial aid, but they are impossible to get on the phone..
Hello Everyone,
I was surfing the net for people going to CSUDH. I am not a student in the nursing department, my major is in Quality Assurance. However, I just wanted to leave a little information on financial aid to help some of you out.
Your package will most likely only reflect grants and subsidized loans. The amount of your subsidized loan varies on your current year of study and "to top it off" you must qualify to receive maximum amount.
The best thing for you to do is to submit an "Appeal Form" w/ financial aid department in order to get an unsubsidized loan to help meet all your needs. This can be used to cover your EFC.
Keep in mind unsubsidized loans rack up interest while you are in school and during the grace period.
Good Luck,
Pam

appeal form:
I spoke with FinAid on Friday. Since I will no longer be working when school starts, they suggested as did notreally a nurse, that I file an Independent Verification Form and Income Adjustment Appeal Form (Independent). They said that they will take into consideration a change in income from my 2007 taxes and that it will take upto 2 months for them to review and finalize it. I will need a notification from my employer saying when the last day of employment was, a final paycheck and 2007 taxes. I am hoping that this helps since I already accepted my award. However, I am also looking into private loans as well... possibly Sallie Mae and Wellsfargo student loans. Does anyone know of any other reputable student loan agencies? Recommendations?
This past weekend I haven't been able to access my toromail account; but I am able to log into My CSUDH with the same username and password. I am trying to communicate with their tech support..
I don't know if someone else is experiencing the same problem, but for those who aren't, can you keep me updated incase Jorge or anyone else sends an important message. Thanks!
Volunteerpioneer, me too! At first I thought that it was my computer since I was trying to set up popmail....but yes I was able to log into my csudh with no problem. Also, I did not see that Mr. Escamilla enrolled us in for the other courses. He said by 8/8. Is it just me? Is everyone else enrolled?
I was also having trouble opening my toromail this weekend, but i tried again right now and it works! i don't know if some of you are still having trouble but you might want to try login in again today. I had two new e-mails, both from students, one said fyi the student health center at CSUDH no longer has Hepatitis B Vaccines and will get a new shipment till the end of the month, and the second one was just in connection with a previous e-mail about an alternative place to get a physical (US Healthworks) with phone numbers and office hours, but nothing from Mr. Escamilla, just wanted to put this out there in case you were still having trouble logging in to toromail
as of now, i too have not been signed up for classes by Mr. Escamilla, maybe he hasn't had time yet, i dont think its really something to worry about, im more focused on getting financial aid straightened out,
thanks to everyone for posting info about financial aid

According to Mr. Escamilla the latest State tuition increase has caused the Financial Aid office to redo things. I haven't phoned them to see if their last time estimate took this change into account or not. We did get the Little Co of Mary rotation site. :wink2:
