I have a classmate who received a call for the in-person interview in the PEDS dept.

Received my rejection as well I hope other people receive better news.

Congratulations! I applied for the NICU at Mission as well. My status still says under review. Do you happen to know how many spots were available? This is my second time applying. I didn't get an interview the first time I applied but my status said "under review" for the longest time. That time, i think my status changed just a few weeks before the program was supposed to start in August. I am not sure if that meant they kept me in mind in case new positions opened up.

Thanks for the info TankerBug. It IS very competitive. I wonder if they will only hire internal applicants this time around. Have you applied to this program before? I wonder if they do courtesy rejection letters or e-mails. At least that way I wouldn't be waiting to hear back from them if they have already decided not to accept me.

69 spots? that is a lot of spots. when I picked up an application back in october they told me there were only 18 spots. I wonder if something happened between now and then to have opened up so many new spots. I wish they could be more specific about when they will notify us

Quick question for anyone to answer: I know the personal statement should be no more than 2 pages, did you all double space or single space?

I also got rejected by this program back in June. I am applying again this year. I am not sure what I can do different this time. I read on another thread that something a person did when they reapplied to the same program is that they were more specific when answering the personal questions about why did you choose nursing, etc. any other ideas?

i concur that grades and personal statement are the first thing they see. i went to a job fair and talked to the coordinator of this program, and she stressed that the personal statement is what will set your apart from other candidates because it should be a reflection of your personality.
