Any CSUDH MEPN Fall 2008 Applicants out there?

Published

Hi y'all

Just wanted to see if there are any CSUDH MEPN Fall 2008 applicants out there who would like to join me in the wait. Does anyone know if interviews are finished? I had mine on April 10th. Does anyone know how accurate the school is with their first week of June deadline of notification? Hope to hear from somebody:wink2:

The financial aid office told you we won't receive our checks until the first week of school?? I thought I read somewhere that we will get it 2 weeks before school starts..:(

no, i haven't heard anything about where i will go for my rotations..

yeah, that's what she said unfortunately, it's also under the FAQ's section on the financial aid website, if you want to check it out here is the link: http://www.csudh.edu/FIN_AID/faq.htm

question 6 addresses this concern

Thanks all for the advice. Sounds like we're in for a lot of work... I might have to rethink the job! As rigorous as it sounds, I'm excited for the challenge!

This is kinda personal, so ignore me if you want, but how well did you all do in your undergrad careers (top of your class? average/B or C student? etc)? I'm starting to get nervous about the workload and wondering if everyone is in my boat or if I'll be the one struggling to keep up!

I'm sure most of us have concerns, Nursetobe. I think a lot of the learning in nursing school will be quite different from what we are used to. I hope we will all work cooperatively to help each other out and be supportive, since we will all need it from time to time. Personally, I did fairly poorly as an unmotivated microbio undergrad years ago, but when I put in the effort on my prereqs the last two years I did very well. Like you I certainly have moments of questioning how I will be able to handle it all... verging on panic at my weaker moments. That's just the way I am I guess. Good to know others feel doubts as well. I'm sure we'll feel more confident as we get rolling and learn the ropes.

Question: How do we know which hospital we are at by the section number of 507L? I am with S. Keyes (section 42091). Are any of you in that section?

I am also worried nursetobe, about my academic capabilities, i was one of those students that had below a 3.0 for undergrad but that did much better in the pre-reqs after graduateing, i too was unmotivated back then as Deni_in_LA put it

However, i am confident of our success, as far as I can tell we are very willing to help each other and that will definitely be a factor in our growing, learning, and graduating

i think one can tell just by looking at this forum how much we are helping, supporting, and motivating each other

im in a different class than you, I'm with Finney in section 42093, i don't know what section is which hospital

what are the chances, i have 42092; neither of yours! mine says tbd. but it also says class starts the 30th?!

aww, neither of the three of us are together :(

I remember Mr. Escamilla saying that we don't start clinical rotations until September 22nd, i believe, first we will be going to the sims lab at Cal State Fullerton for 3 Saturdays (6th, 13th, 20th)

fyi: i bought a new pharmacology for nursing care book for $55 at amazon ( [color=#ff4400]here is the link). i could not find any of the other books discounted online since they are all new :(

also, incase you didn't know, you can order your textbooks online and choose financial aid as the method of payment.. better than using a credit card and paying it later with fin.aid. :)

Anyone going to the orientation on the 26th? I know we all have to be there on the 27th and 28th but, I think the 26th is optional...

I am going; and I plan to meet up with lyndsay (who i met at orientation) and jess08. If you go, hang out with us so we can all get to know each other better and rep. the mepn cohort!

my group got assigned downey regional medical center for our clinicals. have you guys purchased your books yet? or will you wait until after the first day of classes?

I got Downey too. I bought my books already because you can get them cheaper than the bookstore through a couple of different websites. They just take a couple of days to get and I want to make sure I have them by the first day of class.
