Any CSUDH MEPN Fall 2008 Applicants out there?

Published

Hi y'all

Just wanted to see if there are any CSUDH MEPN Fall 2008 applicants out there who would like to join me in the wait. Does anyone know if interviews are finished? I had mine on April 10th. Does anyone know how accurate the school is with their first week of June deadline of notification? Hope to hear from somebody:wink2:

I got my letter yesterday.

I ordered my uniform with Dove on Fri and they told me the sizes on the tops were really large. She recommended I get an XS even tho I am in no way petite.

Has anyone dealt with the Financial Aid office at CSUDH? Does our program have any different cost analysis that is used for determining loans? I have never taken out a loan before & need to get this rolling.

Hey deni,

how were you able to order your uniforms already? i don't have the code.

i will be taking out a loan as well, and never have before either. i intend to take out a stafford loan. the financial aid office is suppose to send an eligibility notice; just make sure you have added them in your fafsfa report. (i am still waiting for mine) the interest is around 6%. about $8k is subsidized by the government, and up to $20k is unsubsidized but guranteed not exceed 8% interest.

The code for Dove Apparel was in Jorge's notes--it is "csudh."

Thanks for the info about the loans. I filled out the fafsa & directed it to csudh. I want to find out what happens concerning my good salary last year going to zero after midAug--- not reflected in the fafsa. I also need a pretty big loan amount because I have a house to pay for and a daughter in private college.

I don't believe your salary should make a difference in your eligeability on a gov't loan; I think salary has to do more with grants. There are other loans if you need more than $28k a year; the next one suggested is a GradPlus, then private student loans.. Financial Aid is suppose to send you a list of the loans you are eligeable for after they review your fafsfa.. i'm waiting for my letter from them as well.. i hope it comes soon!

btw thank you for the code info., jorge never told us that in my workshop, and i am still awaiting the information he is suppose to e-mail us.

has anyone received the e-mail from Jorge that is suppose to contain all the documents about what class to register for, clinical requirements, etc.?

Also, have you guys tried e-mailing him to register for orientation. I tried to but he said I had to fill out a form for it.. I did not receive a form or any instructions on where to get it. I feel like I am being left out or something!! grrr.

I got my email from him on June 19. I think you should call or write him. It had a link to the form for the orientation.

Yea, I called him today. The e-mail with instructions somehow never made it to me; very frustrating. Thanks for all your help! see you on July 25th!

Hi,

I was just wondering where you got the $28k number from, I think I missed a piece of information somewhere and that is why I'm confused, anyways just wondering if you would clarify that for my sake :).

I read on the financial aid website that they give out the financial aid check the first week of classes, which seems kinda last minute to me,but it's no different from undergrad, I also saw on their website that they have interview for loans, but one can do it online too, i will most likely be taking out loans, i called the financial aid office and the lady told me that I just have to wait for my app to be processed and that it takes 4-6 weeks after acceptance into the university and to check back regularly on my.csudh

Also for those who have not yet taken a CPR class, you can go to http://www.americanheart.org/cpr and put in your zip code and choose the BLS for healthcare providers course, I believe, and it will give you a list of approved courses in your area with phone numbers and addresses.

Jorge still has not notified about which classes to register for, right?

Ya, he hasn't sent an e-mail about which classes to take. I got $28k because that is the max amount you can get for a stafford [government] loan. You are alloted a little over $8k as a subsidized loan, and $20k unsubsidized. i did this for the other program i was initially going to go to, but will have to repeat the whole process with CSUDH's financial aid office. i didn't have to interview to take the loan out, but i did have to take an online quiz showing that i understood what it was about. hopefully it's the same thing with csudh.

..and i am also still waiting for my letter from financial aid.. i will need it soon to get an apt. close to school.. grrr.

hey volunteerpioneer,

thanks for your response

sounds like your more familiar with the process of financial aid at the graduate level, if you don't mind me asking, did they give you any kind of "free" money, the other school i mean, you know like grants?

i know what you mean about needing the financial aid letter to get an apartment, im also trying to move out there somewhere but I can't since financial aid is not ready yet, i hope they hurry up

p.s. i think your right, the interview can be online

The "awards" letter they will eventually send is suppose to include any gov't grants you are eligeable for; but when I did mine for the other school I wasn't eligeable for anything :sniff: I talked to my friend about it and she suggested a Pell grant; the only problem is to qualify for the 08-09 school year, we had to apply in March.. So, perhaps next academic year.

I have been looking for scholarships, but nothing substantial or promising has popped up. There are some hospitals and organizations who will give you "free" money if you a sign a contract to work with them after you finish the program. I personally don't want to jump the gun on that one; I know some of those same hospitals will pay your loan out if you sign up with them after graduating anyways..
