Any CSUDH MEPN Fall 2008 Applicants out there?

Published

Hi y'all

Just wanted to see if there are any CSUDH MEPN Fall 2008 applicants out there who would like to join me in the wait. Does anyone know if interviews are finished? I had mine on April 10th. Does anyone know how accurate the school is with their first week of June deadline of notification? Hope to hear from somebody:wink2:

Congrats to all of you! I'll let you know if I do get in. Seems doubtful considering that you all got acceptance letters today, and I'm also in LA. I have a few outstanding prereqs I'm taking this summer, and once I complete them, I think I'll be a stronger candidate for the next application cycle. I'd love your feedback on the program. Since I have a small child, I'll look to you veterans for guidance! And good luck! It's so exciting.

Bella Kate,

Don't jump to conclusions just yet! First off, I doubt the school would send acceptance letters separate from rejections. I feel I may have gotten mine first because I was in the very first cycle (i turned in my portfolio in on August 07 and interviewed last Sept!) Also, the letter states that it is a conditional acceptance, the university has to accept you too to get the seal. On top of that, even if you don't get an acceptance, you have a chance as an alternate.. the program is expecting some of the first choices not to accept a seat, therefore will offer it to the next qualified appliicant. so keep your head high and just hold your breath for another day or two!

Thanks for the encouragement. Nothing today, either. It's okay, really... it felt like a long-shot since I had 3 outstanding prereqs. I was encouraged by having As in everything I had done to date and volunteer experience, but hearing about your acceptances has lit a fire under me to finish the final prereqs well and continue with more volunteer opportunities. The process continues........ but the disappointment of not getting accepted only encourages me more, which is a great sign that I'm on track.

I really do want to keep in touch with you all to hear about your experiences. I know you'll be busy, but hopefully your experiences can mentor me so that I can eventually join you! I am so excited for all of you and hope that I can hear more! :yeah:

that's the spirit! i can empathize with your situation because it took 2 years for me to even qualify for these acc-msn programs. but it is true, "nothing in the world worth having ever comes easy." (dr.kelso,scrubs). the program will be rigorous, but i would love to help you out in anyway i can and keep you updated on the program (if you dont get in yourself). my email is [email protected]. good luck with your endeavors!

I agree with volunteerpioneer, I love your great attitude! That attitude will surely make this journey a whole lot easier and applying to nursing school is indeed a journey. Just like volunteerpioneer it took me about two years of full-time hard work to finally start nursing school, in Sept 08 it will have been two years since I graduated from undergrad.

Although, I still wouldn't give up on receiving an acceptance or alternate spot. I know it's easier said than done since you see people receiving responses but the possibility is definitely there. Anyways, I am glad to help with what I can and you can send me a private message should you wish to contact me.

Hey VolunteerPioneer, which school did you decide on?

Hey - Guess what? I got an acceptance letter today! Woo hoo! I've got some work to do this summer to get my prereqs finished! Thanks, everyone, for the encouragement. I'm really excited and am happy to have such great future classmates! :) :)

CONGRATS Bella Kate:yeah:!!!! I am so excited and happy for you!

Also congratulations to deni_in_LA and volunteerpioneer!!! :yeah: I hadn't officially congratulated you two so I thought this would be a perfect time. I am so excited for all of us :D.

To those who will be attending the MEPN program: I hope that we can get better acquainted over the summer, I would really like to get to know some of my classmates before the program starts, anyone like that idea:idea:?

I'd love to meet all of you. One of the things I liked about this program is the small group size. Jorge said they accepted 40 students, but I'm sure some will be declining, esp. with their late notification time. I can meet anytime but next week. What areas do you all live in? I'm in West LA near the 10/405 intersection. My email is [email protected].

I am so excited for all of us! Yes, I think it would be nice to get to know each other over the summer.

Does anyone have a sense as to how many days a week we'll be on campus? I'm slightly concerned about the distance (I'm in the valley), but I drive nearly an hour to work now as it is, so it's doable. Does anyone know any students currently in the program? I'd love to get details from them!

I live not too far from you. I am in the San Fernando Valley like Bella Kate. I guess we'll get in touch again after next week so that we can arrange something. Yay!!!

Bella Kate

I don't know anybody in the program but I think deni_in_LA was able to meet someone in the program, maybe she can help you. I don't know how many days we'll be on campus but it seems the days we are not on campus we will be doing clinical hours, I checked out the list they gave us on some of the clinical sites and it seems most of them are around the same area as the school like Norwalk, Harbor city, Downey, Bellflower and Long Beach. I also remember Jorge mentioning that we might be using the simulation labs at Cal State Fullerton. Therefore, I decided that the valley would be too far to commute from, plus I drive an SUV gas guzzler. I hope to find housing around that area, like Torrance or Long Beach, but it all depends on financial aid. Of course these thoughts are just my :twocents:.
