Another vent about school

Nursing Students General Students

As you all know I have to take the NET over again because I apparently came close to passing...so they are giving me another chance to take the test. I have to take the test next Tuesday on the 15th. I already know that we have to have our physical/immunizations/lab results at the health office of my college by August 15th. This made me wonder....by the time they receive the results and determine who they are going to let in...there is no way to have all that info. in. So I e-mailed the chairperson of the nursing department.....she e-mailed me back (9 days later mind you...:( ) and told me that when we are informed it will either be for the tentative January evening program....(what the heck is this????) or for September 2004. I was so upset when I read that e-mail. When I received my letter stating ".....you scored very close to passing on the NET and you are being given another chance to take the test...) I assumed that there were more people who came close to passing than people who actually passed. How could I have misinterpretedthe letter??? I tried to get in touch with her but was unable to....I'll try again tomorrow. I can't believe this is happening......

I can feel your pain Fatima. These people just like to give us the run around. I was told too that they would review my application for the fall 2003 and was told again that it would be for spring 2004. Sometimes I feel like i am getting crazy. When will this end?

Just hold on my dear and don't ever give up. God does not give us more than what we can bear. I know you are feeling disappointed. I felt the same way when I was told it was for january 2004. God will work on their hearts for you just leave it at his feet.

Good luck!

Ann.

Sheeesh. I agree with Ann. I believe they LOVE the run around.

Rules change from day to day depending on their moods (I swear it!).

Ya know, there isnt anything (unfortunatly) that you can do. Pass the NET, and begin when they decide you can.

I know Im a wreck waiting for my letter.... 1 more week....

If I dont get in, I'll be in one heck of a mess too!

I know how you feel. I was all set to start the ADN program in fall 2003. I had not yet taken Chem and my advisor told me that this would be no problem that I could take it in the summer b4 the program started. I was all set. I went to the registrar to change my major to nursing, had already told everyone that I would be in the nursing program and the registrar told me that I would need the dean to sign a slip to change my major. When I went to the dean she looked at me and said, "Oh no honey your not getting in, you haven't had Chem yet." Needless to say, I was crushed. I have now completed Chem and will be starting this fall. Just a minor setback, but it sure would be nice to be graduating this May 2004. Oh well class of 2005 here I come.

(((Fatima))) Hang in there, girl...breathe in...breathe out...

Good luck!

Hi Fatima,

Man, that really stinks. I feel for you. I will say though, that I haven't met a nursing student that didn't have a tough time / runaround getting into nursing school. I had a lot of problems, like you, just trying to get accepted. One person tells you one thing, another person something else.

Just try your best to stick it out because eventually, you will get in.

Good Luck!

Col

Thanks everyone for the encouraging words. I have been thinking about what I'm going to do if I get accepted for Spring 2004....If I am accepted I'm going to take A & P 2 (which I'm already registered for...at night) and probably Nutrition or Pharmacology. If I'm accepted for Fall 2004...I'm going to this school that has a 4 mth. program for EKG & Phlebetomy...that' way I can get experience and get a part-time job until September. But just in case this is just a big misunderstanding through e-mails....I'm going to get get my physicals and the required lab work required by the health office. I still can't believe this is really happening.

In my experience, school counselors don't know jack, I'm not really sure what they are there for except that students need their signature for some things. Find the information you need IN PRINT from the school catalogue or department literature. If I don't see it in print, I ask a few people before I take any one person's word.

Amen, and Hear Hear!!

Ive known WAYYYYY to many students (including myself) who have had the WRONG infor given and been Screwed....:(

huh, and I thought only my school had incompetent advisors. hang in there, you're almost in!

Another thing, trying to get info out of school employees over the summer is like pulling teeth! (Actually, pulling teeth is easier!)

Oh hugs Fatima! That's awful! I am sorry. I can't wait till you get in and get started. It will happen.
