ANC Nov Board & M5 ID

Specialties Government

Published

I wanted to start a thread for all of the people who are waiting for the November ANC selection board, specifically if you have/waiting on the M5 identifier for Emergency Nursing. I thought we could suffer together and update each other while we wait. You are welcome to post if you have another specialty or none at all.

My status:

I have submitted all documents, and waiting on M5 identifier approval, physical approval and for the packet to make it past QA.

Congrats Lunah,

AJ, they have taken a few new grads (ie future grads with no exp) but it was obviously crazy competitive.

Congrats Lunah! She just called me with the bad news. They didn't take anyone graduating this year (totally unofficial guys PLEASE no one call their recruiters freaking out, plus I'm a new RN not RN-BSN...) Really doesn't surprise me, who else would hire a nurse 7 months from graduating? Not having the rolling board was a bummer but c'est le vie. I'll be applying in either '11 or '12, I'm sure. Gives me time to work on those push ups.

Contrats and good luck to everyone who made it!

So they won't be taking anyone graduating this coming May 2011? I still haven't heard from my recruiter either...I am thinking it won't be good news :S

That's what I understood, but she could have told me that to make me feel better. Good luck, I hope you get good news.

My recruiter called me again today, and he told me that the reason I am OML because of lack of experience.I am not expecting to get in even though I am OML..All I know, I have to compete again for next year which is I am okay with that to gain more experience in the ICU..

For everyone who got selected, congratulations:yeah:

For those of you who will be with me again next year, goodluck to all of us..just do what you have to do and "live, laugh and love like today is your last":D

Lunah, Congrats on getting your stuff started, taking the oath and 1LT! Note of caution, I would check to be sure that the rank is correct, as that could create pay, promotion, separation and/or retirement problems for you in the future. Not to be a naysayer, but trust me you do not want to give DFAS a reason to make pay problems for you. Keep us posted. I need to make sure that I am not too far behind LOL. Hopefully I will sign the papers this week.

AJ, LA40 and Elumine:

Stay strong, use this year to work on your credentials and gaining experience. Your commissions will be that much sweeter to you when you signed, knowing that you hurdled some challenges to get what you wanted.

Yep, we'll get the rank issue sorted soon ... I suspect I'll be a 2LT. :)

Thanks friend,

I can't believe ya'll are swearing in already! I guess that's what they mean by direct commission huh. Congratulations and good luck to all of you, see you in a couple of years.

Elumine,

I was select for OML as well. I was told by my recruiter that "OML" is not considered non select. I was informed they (recruiter) are not informed of what number a person is on the list. However, we can be selected for active duty now or NLT 30 September 2011. My understanding and the impression that I received from my recruiter is that I don't have to resubmit a packet for next year. You won't either. I will continue to keep you posted once I receive information. Can you do the same for me? Stay encouraged, I am, we will be active duty nurses before the FY2012. I have faith and so do you!

My recruiter told me that everything should be final today -- I got to spend some quality time at her office, doing the usual: fingerprints, signing forms, raising my right hand, having my husband pin my 1LT rank on ... yep, 1LT. LOL!! I might end up really being a 2LT, but for now, I'm in the system as a 1LT (which could be/probably is a goof, but we're going with it!).

:D

I'm bummed because I don't have anyone to pin me that lives close by! My sister doesn't have a car & lives a couple hours away, my parents & grandparents are out of state & all my best friends live far away! :) Gonna' be a lonely day, lol.

What qualifies us to be an LT2 from LT1? So many years? Specialty?
