ANC Nov Board & M5 ID

Specialties Government

I wanted to start a thread for all of the people who are waiting for the November ANC selection board, specifically if you have/waiting on the M5 identifier for Emergency Nursing. I thought we could suffer together and update each other while we wait. You are welcome to post if you have another specialty or none at all.

My status:

I have submitted all documents, and waiting on M5 identifier approval, physical approval and for the packet to make it past QA.

i was meaning to respond to this thread when you originally posted, but i was waiting to connect with my new recruiter (my old one got new duty station orders). my new recruiter is excited and is quickly putting my packet together to submit to boards for november.

i got very little sleep today (i am a night nurse, so i usually sleep days) because of a several phone calls to update and submit a few things. i am not concerned because i completed my application this past spring so i am not starting from scratch. in fact, it should only take me a few days to get the important items i need. also, my status includes waiting for updated cv approval.

apparently my former cv was never submitted. i am not bitter or angry. i did not qualify for m5 until this past spring and as everyone else who has started this process a year ago knows, m5 for f10 closed after the spring '10. so, unlike some of your recruiters who kept submitting stuff to see if you had a chance for f10, my former recruiter figured it was a waste of time (my husband thinks he was putting me in a savings account for f11 to meet a quota since his f10 quota was already met. i disagree ... no recruiter has trouble meeting quotas at this time; m5 for f10 was closed).

does anyone, know how long cvs take for approval? i figured i should ask since some of you have submitted several over the past year.... like one every week *ahem, lunah*. :lol2:

just kidding, lunah. i had an updated cv ready to fax to my new recruiter today because of your suggestion a few weeks ago. so, i am seriously only joking with you! ;)take care!

My CV only ever went to my recruiter -- she didn't actually submit anything for evaluation until ... hmmm, I think it was July or August. Even without all the extra stuff I've done, I qualified for M5 without the revisions! :D My status is still pending, the last time she checked.

today i heard from my new recruiter that m5 is boarding in november. i heard this also from my former recruiter four weeks ago. so, i am going with the conclusion that m5 active duty is not being boarded until november because everyone here has reiterated the same information since august. the positive is that if we have anything we need to edit, add, or fix/make up, then we still have time (well, six weeks or so).

now for the conflicting information: today i heard that no one knows how many slots m5 has for this year. my recruiter reported that recruiters are just going to send all of the applications that qualify to boards and see what happens. thinking positively, this information sounds a lot better then there only being 50 slots for m5, right?:twocents:;)

thanks mbarn!

i will hope that my recruiter just gave me conflicting info.:uhoh3:they are very nice, but sometimes give me the impression that they are new. i give then benefit of doubt, but i do not want to miss out on something due to lack of knowledge. i asked again specifically, i was told they would get back to me, i will update if, and when i get a reply. i am also trying to figure out if i do in fact qualify for the o1e pay. i have 3y11m8d active duty, and 45 d active duty for trng in the reserve. no one can tell me if the 45d of adt will count toward the requirement. anyone here have any info?

You can look up the reg for this and avoid the recruiter... with x years in you should know that regs and google are your friend..;

I stole this from a different forum to give you a lead.. confirm for yourself - best of luck~

I would also add the recruiter doesn't have anything to do with your time in service.. you get in as an 01 and take yourself and your previous DD214 to finance and you can square yourself away.... let them focus on getting you a commission and you can take care of your personal pay.

“Applicable to O-1 to O-3 with at least 4 years and 1 day of active duty or more than 1460 points as a warrant and/or enlisted member. See Department of Defense Financial Management Regulations for

more detailed explanation on who is eligible for this special basic pay rate.”

This means that unless he has 1460 points or 4 years and 1 day of active duty he will not qualify for the enhanced officer pay rate.

In the reserves you accrue points for participation and retirement. Usually you get 2 points for every day of “drill” and 1 point for every day of active duty (to include Annual Training, ADSW, ect). Normally Reserve soldier accrue about 80 pts a year including the 15 membership points. Soldiers cannot receive more than 365/ 366 points in a year/ leap year.

OK, I do know that google are regs are my friend, and I have read the finance reg AR 37-104-4 for pay and entitlements. I knew about the 4years, and 1 day, and the 1460 point as enlisted or warrant. What I did not know is how the 2 may be combined to get the 4 years+1. Sections 2-3 thru 2-5 are the pertinent sections, but the combination of AD time and point is not specifically addressed. :specs:I was not a Finance soldier in my former life, so I asked if anyone could share, and I could learn from their experience. Now I know I can deal with Finance myself when the time comes, this makes me feel better. Depending on someone else often leaves things lost in translation, and I would rather it not be pay related. I have enough other things that I am fighting Pvt. Murphy for...:)

where the point total comes from is that everyday you are on active duty that is 1 point.

It looks like your point total is 1433 for active duty and 45 points for reserve time. This gives you a grand total of 1478 plus any other points you have in the reserves. It looks like you will qualify for O1E.

I did the math after you gave the formula, but thanks for confirming!

Now to just be sure that I have all of the documentation to support it. I wonder what happened to the "paperless army":uhoh3:

Yeah traumaRN!! O1E - MORE MONEY!!! Hopefully this is true and it all works out for you. I got my "E" status almost immediately without any problems and very little transition time from approval to actual LES.

Got some motivation today after talking to my recruiter!! What an awesome recruiter I have - thankfully!! All is squared away and he said he's putting my packet forth in October. He said the worse that can happen is that they tell him to board it in November, but he wants me to get accepted for Active almost as much as me - if that's possible!! I can't wait - 39 days until OBLC and hopefully shortly after graduation - or even during class - I'll find out the good news!! LOL!! Can you say "Hello Optimism"!?!?!

Again, good luck to all of you and I hope to meet all of you in uniform at the many schools that we will surely be attending on ACTIVE DUTY!!!!

So I found out today that my CV was approved for 66HM5. :w00t:

My recruiter said that she was planning to send my packet to the November board, but she would try to submit it in October, which leads us back to the original question about board in October or November. I was also informed that I would know 4-5 days after the board if I was picked up. So we will see what happens. For all of you waiting on CV review I would follow up. I know my info was submitted on the day I started this thread, and it was approved already. If only the whole process could go that smoothly and quickly!

Congrats!! I just emailed my recruiter. :D

Since you are in the Reserves you need to go to "my record" at the HRC website and get your point capture (arpc 249-2) under retirment. This will have your total points in the Army. If you served in another service then you will need this along with your DD214. This can be done thru AKO under self service, "my personal" then click on "gateway to HRC"or the HRC website.

When you go to finance to get this straight take all info you have even if it is a duplicate of information listed else where.
