I wanted to start a thread for all of the people who are waiting for the November ANC selection board, specifically if you have/waiting on the M5 identifier for Emergency Nursing. I thought we could suffer together and update each other while we wait. You are welcome to post if you have another specialty or none at all.
My status:
I have submitted all documents, and waiting on M5 identifier approval, physical approval and for the packet to make it past QA.
My paperwork is done ... still waiting on that M5 identifier. Sigh. Patience, patience, patience ...
Has your recruiter said why it's taking so long for your M5? You should already have that ASI. You submitted your paperwork way before I did. He/she needs to look into it so that it's ensured that your packet is going up as a 66HM5.
@ New1LTHow long has the process taken you to get where your at?
Im also a Army Nurse Reservist in Florida and curious how long it takes to transition from Reserve to Active. Thanks
jerrylundergard,
I started my paperwork back in Jun '09 for the board in Oct '09 (FY10). I initially went into the STRAP because I hadn't finished my BSN. I was commissioned in Jan '10 with five months still to go in my BSN program. Once I finished school the boards had closed for FY '10, so like everyone in this thread, I'm waiting for FY' 11 boards with abated breath!!
Where are you in FL? What unit are you assigned to?

Im in Miami. My unit 369th CSH is in Perrine but is deactivating in Sep 2011. Ill be going to APMC or looking to get picked up somewhere else hopefully not too far away. I probably wont try to go active till 2012 or 2013. Like every other ICU RN im looking to get into USAGPAN. If I cant get my GRE score over 1000 (currently at 970 on pricenton practice) and couldnt get in USAGPAN than Id just try to go active as a regular ole ICU RN.
New1LT, Your TPU is up there in North Florida?
Jeckrn,
Thanks for the heads up!
I believe it's the 16th.You'll hear me yelling with happiness from there when my M5 is approved.
It will happen, we just have to wait on slow poke :)
The 16th... That means that all packets that are being considered probably have to be there by the 1st (give or take a day). I am just guessing.
Could be an interesting Thanksgiving.
Let the requests begin... Isn't it funny how we're so attuned to this process that we all have undergone for SOOOOOO long that we can for see things before they come?!?!?!
So I call my recruiter today to let him know that my command has the paperwork needed for my request to switch from reserves to active. I then ask him some generic questions like how many M5s are going up with my packet - come on, like none of you have asked that a million times!!! So after our chatter is over all of a sudden the requests begin!! Now I have to request official transcripts, which I thought he already had and a copy of my nursing license, which I know is in my last packet - uhhhgggg. Oh well, I guess it could be worse...I could be at OBLC in the field when these requests came up!!! At least I know he's working on my packet and making sure that all is good to go before November and that he's looking ahead at the possibilities.
I can't believe how anxious I am!!!

I feel your pain! I just got an email yesterday, FRIDAY, that I had to fill out a DD Form 368, then send it to my CDR and have him sign it and then have my command send it back to my recruiter. Wouldn't be a problem but my unit is in GA and I'm in FL. Everything has to be scanned, printed, signed, re-scanned, and then emailed. Now the fate of my packet is in the hands of my commander who has met me a whole one time!!! I'm told that this is the last thing needed for my approval to switch from USAR to USA, but we've all heard that phrase before. Then weeks go by and we get a call that there's one more thing needed, etc!!!
But we've all hung in there this long and I'm positive that it's all going to pan out and we'll all end up meeting up somewhere and laugh about the "pain" we went through to get active duty commissioned!!!
I'm quite sure you'll get those gold bars from Santa this year!!!
