Hello Everyone,
I am very excited about starting school this Spring Jan 11 to be exact. I have been out school for about a year now, and I am finally getting back on track. I am taking A&P 1 this semester and I am very nervous because, I went on rate my professor and looked up my professor and she has horrible reviews. She is the only professor they have teaching this class in the morning and that's the only time I can take this class. I have already started reading and taking my own notes, but I am still anxious. I just don't know what to expect. I saw that someone had started a thread for microbiology so, I thought I would start one for A&P so we could all vent lol during the semester as well as keep up with one another about how everything is going. Good Luck to you all :)
I have taken CHEM, MICRO, and AP1. My AP2 class will start in a couple of weeks. College is what you make it. I took hard professors just to prove a point to myself-that I could. One professor I took had horrible reviews. By the end of the semester, half the class was going to the Dean. I loved the professor. He didn't hand-hold. He expected students to show up, take notes, and read the text. Sometimes those reviews online are by disgruntled students. There are times that those reviews are accurate. It is all subjective. Learning how to deal with different personalities is going to be par for the course as a nurse. This is a great opportunity to learn how to deal with difficult people while still obtaining a goal. Getting the job done and done well is what we must all strive for. Getting that A is the same as grading yourself on the job. Climb that mountain and then look for the next one. Hey, whistle while you tackle it too. Attititude goes a long way in life. Be fearless.
I'm looking forward to staring A&P I on January 17th. Last semester I had a biology professor who had terrible reviews and as the class progressed I realized the criticisms were valid. I studied extra hard, took copious notes, used online resources and passed with an A. Many of the other students spent their time complaining about the professor instead of studying and almost half the class failed. I think you need to be proactive and take responsibility for your own learning.
You need to look at A&P as the foundation for the rest of your career. You will find that when you start working, it's your A&P (if you studied like it's all you have to go on) that you will search your mind for when you are left to figure out what is going on with a patient. The stuff from the nursing classes? Uh, not so much.
Wait, juuuuuuust wait, you will tell me I was sooooooo right.
Learn it and love it!

I am definitely going to put in the work. I am just a little nervous because I don't know what to expect. :)
I'm starting A&P I as well this semester, specifically tomorrow night. I looked up my professor as well on ratemyprofessor and got the worst reviews but I'm taking it in stride because I noticed that every time a professor gets bad reviews it's from a student who did not do well in the class due to their own error.
I would say put your own best effort in it. Even if you do get a bad professor, do the stuff on your own because this is one of many classes that will set the foundation to your career. I'm definitely taking it seriously and will ignore any bad habits of the professor that you don't like.
If you need a virtual study buddy in the future, I'll be happy to help as I want to make sure I get an A in this class.
