Anatomy Coloring Book

Hey All, I am looking for an anatomy coloring book. There are several for sale and I wanted to know which you all found useful. I am not sure which one to buy, but I really like the idea. I think coloring would help me memorize.

This one (Anatomy & Physiology Colring Workbook by Elaine N. Marieb - 8th edition) is great! It is actually required with the course I am in and it follows the text wonderfully! Very helpful!

I have the two Kapit and Elson ones Jess is talking about.

Honestly, I find them a waste.

I was so excited in A&P I. I had my two coloring books, my Marieb study guide, and my Netter's flashcards. Guess how many times I've used them? One each.

I don't find there's enough time to use everything. I'm in A&P II, and I'm doing the same thing I wound up doing for A&P I. Getting as many old notes(both A&P I and II so I can compare) of students, and putting them in a binder with my notes from last semester. Everyday, I try and read one A&P I division of notes for the test, and one from A&P II.

But if you have the time, go for it. The time I did use my coloring book was in lab, learning the bones. I will say it was very stress-relieving! :rotfl:

edit: also, everyone learns differently, and i've heard this book has helped people....so, you never know!

I just have a couple more questions; I hope you all don’t mind. First of all I am not sure what text book we are using. Should I wait to buy a coloring book till after I know what test book we are using? Do these anatomy books have the real name for parts, and the common name? How technical is it, to much, or not enough? I don't want to get an easy one if it’s not going to show me all that I need to know. I have the time to color; I am just looking for other ways I can use to memorize all this information. I really want to do well in A&P, thanks so much for all the help.

Shannon, the one I have is pretty in-depth. I really like it. Not only does it have the biggest portions of the anatomy, but it has questions like multiple-choice, fill in the blank, and figure out the answer on "at the clinic" reviews as well as a visual exercise at the end of each chapter. It's great for multiple learning styles. I learn the best by the coloring activities - first I figure out the term of the area I am going to color, and then I repeat it over and over (in my head) as I color the area. It helps to solidify it for me. Of course, I am a "hands-on" learner, so that helps a lot. I don't know if it makes a difference what text you have or not, the text I have is "Anatomy & Physiology" 3rd edition by Saladin. The coloring workbook is grouped into chapters similar to each unit we have covered so far. Ask away if you have any more questions. ;)

I too find them a waste. I did not use them for either A&P 1 or 2, but my lab partner did and they are pretty detailed and interesting. I did however made my own flashcards and that helped me tremendously.

There are many who do much better with the book. I gave it a try but found that making copies from the book and whiting out the ansewer then making several copies made it easier for me to learn and memorize. :)

I bought an Anatomy coloring book that our school supplied, i colored one pic and never opened it again...........

I had the Elaine Marieb coloring book. I only used it for the bones although im sure it wold have helped me for those pesky little muscles too I just didnt have the time to sit there and color everything. But they are VERY useful, its just a matter of finding the time! Good Luck

I'm debating on getting the Kapit coloring books for Anatomy and the one for Physiology...to those who have purchased these ones, is it worth it? I have them in my cart on Amazon...Books-A-Million wanted quite a few $$ extra for each...

I don't mind coloring and feel the time I have to focus on each part, coloring it, will help me learn much better. I will have enough time to set aside to do the coloring, considering I'm only taking one other class along with this one, Psychology, and it's hybrid.
