Anatomy & Physiology Fall 2008

Published

Several had mentioned starting a study thread early so we could get prepared for our fall A&P class, so here goes. I have gathered several websites from both here and on my own, so wanted to post them early on so that we wouldn't have to search for them. Please feel free to add to them and also any advice or study tactics that seem to work for you.

Thankyou to Eveyone here at AllNurses who have provided so much information in one spot.

Ok, that's it for tonight....I have several others but hopefully this will keep everyone busy for a day or 2 :chuckle:yeah:I'm sure we all have diferent study habits and will need to find our own way there but I am hoping we can work together as a study team.

Maybe each day or two, someone could provide a study tip or an mneumonics for memorization for tissues or nerves, anything that is helping you learn. Or if you come accross somethin that you can't use, maybe someone else can.

 OFF to Bed for me

I am sure I will be back to look at this thread often as I am re-taking A&P I in the fall (only because I need to have it within the last 5 yrs to apply for programs in the area and it has been more than 5 yrs since I have had it)

Wow, I wish I would have had all that info when I took A&P 1 Spring '08.

I'm taking A&P 2 Fall '08 so I know this info is still useful.

Thanks!

Well I am glad to see that so many have already beaten me to the punch with this thread! I know this class is no joke- but I also know it's totally do-able! If people can get through A&P in the 6 weeks over summer we can certainly do it in the Fall! Thanks to everyone who has posted links and encouragement so far! I took that little quiz- and made a 60% I'm actually quite thrilled about that b/c if I can pull a 60% without ever looking at a word of this stuff I know that with some studying I'll do fine and with a lot of studying I should be able to do pretty good! I know I'll be posting here a lot and can't wait to actually start classes! I'll be taking A&P1 and psych M/W/F and working for a Home Health co. on T/TH.

so- good luck to everyone and when you start to get down on yourself just remember why you're taking the class!!! :p

Specializes in MICU - CCRN, IR, Vascular Surgery.

I *highly* recommend this podcast - http://www.clickcaster.com/kerry-henrickson

I've made it through both semesters of ANP now, and used her podcasts both semesters.

I don't remember if this one was on the list too, but I listened to every one of her episodes as well. http://206.8.175.120/AP/A%26P_General/Podcasts/Podcasts.html

Specializes in psych, ltc, case management.

I took one of the quizes just now while at work..I've never even opened an A&P book and I got a 60%. That can't be too terrible, right?

Add me to the A&P I for this semester. I am taking the course online and in person labs. I work full time and have two young ones (4 and 5 1/2). Wish me luck. I have only three more classes until I can apply to the program.

I have gotten quite a few books to use as references, the coloring books, the ANP for Dummies and a cool insert to go into a three ringed binder with all the body systems. I have also bought Netters flashcards. The book we are using at Grossmont College, San Diego, CA is a book by Toretta (sp?) It too is a new edition, so I can't get it until a week or two before school. I want to get a head start. I also happened to find the teacher's syllabus online from last year, so I am going to try and see what I can pre-read!

Nancy

I am so glad that this thread has started! I began pre-reading and studying last week. My school uses the large Marieb A&P Text and the My Anatomy and Physiology Place webite access that comes with the textbook package.

In the Fall I will be taking A&P I w/ lab, Math 111 and Spanish.

Good luck to everyone! We will do Fine:heartbeat

Wow! We are going to have a full crew.

I have started making flashcards and reviewing Body Oranization, which is what my Prof suggested when I e-mailed her on what I should prepare for.

Here's the site that I found to be the easiest to make flashcards from http://www.highlands.edu/subwebs/shenderson/API/lab_manual/introlab.htm

it's posted up above as well. Be sure to visit the blank diagrams to practice with.

Let me also suggest that you keep an eye out for cheap gangly skeletons, about a foot tall....I found one for $4 yesterday. I will name him and use him to practice naming the bones. He's about a foot tall and will fit into my bookbag, if need be. He's made of bones and similar to the large ones you might see in class.....He is actually a Halloween decoration....LOL

Geez, I feel behind now because I haven't started studying or ordered books or anything. I'm still finishing up my summer gen bio class.

I see it is $300 for this http://www.primalpictures.com/Interactive_Head_and_Neck.aspx

Is this the one you are referring to PoshGirl?

Believe me, I am not that far ahead....I am still taking Ethics and Human Biology....so my very little extra time goes towards A&P and Chem

I wanted to add a couple of websites that I have found to be interesting and helpful.

great flashcard site:

A&P info and study guide:

Hope these help in addition to the other terrific websites posted here.
