Any Grossmont College nursing students on here?
No waitlist. They go by a point system now. You get one shot at the TEAS and they take your first score. You can go on their website and download the point system criteria. They basically break it down by science classes, then core classes, degrees, languages, disability, etc. Nancy

Any Grossmont College nursing students on here?
Hi, I am looking to applying for the Spring 2012 session. Can any of you tell me what point totals you go in order to be accepted for that semester? I am just trying to guage where I may be. Also, can you tell me what you got on the TEAS test? Thanks!! Best of luck to you new nurses. Grossmont's program is awesome from what I hear. I am currently volunteering with a grad nurse and she loved it! Nancy

Really, May of 2008? I wonder if the economy has an effect. Maybe people can't afford to quit their jobs and since the government is holding on to the scholarship and grant money, there are more people who can't afford to go right now. That is cool that you did not have to wait long. Nancy

A&P II Spring 2009, anyone?
I am starting in two weeks too. We start with the circulatory system. The guy seems a little all over the place. does not use the book, but instead uses his own ppt. According to ratemyprofessor he has a bad rep. But then again, so did the last teacher and I actually liked her and did well. So we shall see. Nancy I can't wait to be done with pre-reqs! One more after this and I am done until I start a program:):yeah::yeah:

A&P II Spring 2009, anyone?
Add me to the list of APII people. I work fulltime and this will be my only class. It is all I can handle with two small kids and working fulltime. I hope it is easier. I enjoyed API, but I am not a conceptual person, so physiology was a bit hard for me. We shall see this time around Nancy

Will I be neglectful and selfish?
I am a paralegal and yes I do make decent money. But I have ALWAYS wanted to be a nurse. Sometime I will try to combine them both. I will say, if you like the same ol same ol, paralegal will be that for you eventually. I have been doing this for 15 years and I am burnt out! I am so excited to do nursing. I work full time now, I have two children ages 4 and 6 and I will be in school two nights a week, as well as still working full time. I am doing this for me and for them. I can transfer anywhere, work as much or as liittle as I want, so many different fields to go into. I will be able to be there for my kids in the long run. Remember it is quality time, not quantity. I say follow your dreams. It can be your mom is not supportive because she doesn't have that fire in her anymore. She is tired. It took her a long time to get to that point. She maybe did not like her arena, you may or not may not go into that arena. For every naysayer, there is an ecourager. Still with it! If it is your dream, you deserve it. Nancy

Have any of you ever had Mr. Lowe for A&P II? I need to sign up today for that class. He has a horrible reputation. I have Alagia and she too had a hard reputation, but I am doing well in her class. Granted, I am in the online lecture part. Any advice you can give me on Mr. Lowe would be appreciated. I tried calling the nursing office and the counseling office, but they would not give me any information. Thanks! Nancy

Anatomy & Physiology Fall 2008
Do you already have them all typed out on the computer? Would you be willing to share them? Thanks for the info. I did think of writing stuff out on the back of the test first. Great suggestion.

Cellular Respiration
Thank you both. Yes, molecular stuff is a PIA! We will make great nurses, we just need to get there. I will try writing it all out. I don't have the option of different colors on the test, but I know she will make that one of the essay questions. I am good at memorizing which is why I can do good in anatomy, but not physiology, which is concepts. You can know the parts, but if you can't explain how they work together, you are lost!! Thank you for your apology, thank you for your insight, I will try the tricks listed. Nancy

Cellular Respiration
Thank you CT Pixie! Yes, I took Bio in high school in 9th grade (1988) to be exact, so over 20 years ago. I also took Bio in college in 1991 and the structure of bio 120 has changed dramatically since then. The teacher I have for A&P is known to be a high level instructor and is huge on concepts and not just definitions. I appreciate the elaborate explainations by you guys. I am taking this online, working full time and home alone at nights with my kids. So I can use all the help I can get and everyone's different perspectives. Thanks! Nancy

Cellular Respiration
Explain to me in layman's terms cellular respiration and glycosis. The teacher is not doing a very good job and I can't figure out the concept from the book. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Nancy
