Several had mentioned starting a study thread early so we could get prepared for our fall A&P class, so here goes. I have gathered several websites from both here and on my own, so wanted to post them early on so that we wouldn't have to search for them. Please feel free to add to them and also any advice or study tactics that seem to work for you.
Thankyou to Eveyone here at AllNurses who have provided so much information in one spot.

Ok, that's it for tonight....I have several others but hopefully this will keep everyone busy for a day or 2 :chuckle:yeah:I'm sure we all have diferent study habits and will need to find our own way there but I am hoping we can work together as a study team.
Maybe each day or two, someone could provide a study tip or an mneumonics for memorization for tissues or nerves, anything that is helping you learn. Or if you come accross somethin that you can't use, maybe someone else can.
OFF to Bed for me
Thanks so much! I have slacked so much since the last test and I think its going to bite me in the butt. Luckily my lab teacher works way ahead so we know ahead of time what will be on the test. I need to buckle down and work all night tonight on studying! He's doing well, thanks for the well wishes :) He had his tonsils and adenoids out for sleep apnea and now he is back to being the 2 year hellion I know and love!
Good. I'm glad he's well!
Our labs are about 2 weeks ahead of our lecture. For instance, our 2nd or 3rd lab was histology. We are just now doing histology in lecture. Now I want to go back and look at the slides again so that I can really get it.
We are doing bones right now, and that chapter in lecture is still 2 chapters away. By the time we get to bones in lecture everything should be back on schedule. We are taking 3 weeks for bones in lab and it will only consume 1 lecture. I can't wait until we are caught up.
Hey you guys!! Wow, this thread is MASSIVE! I definitely know why :) I didn't have time to look through all of the posts, sorry I apologize if someone has already discussed this, buuttttttt...
My A&P just started bones, and we are barely through the skull and I'm about to freak and have already lost hope !!!!!!!
Anyone have any suggestions or tips on how to actually memorize this stuff? I mean seriously, all the foramens and fissures and condyles have me freaked out. Any help would be appreciated! Anyone in the same boat?

Just wanted to say I feel your pain! Our prof posts the powerpoints used in lecture on our blackboard online, so I try to work ahead. Well I got this weeks lecture notes down and AUUGHH! That is all I can say! I will be doing a lot of searching this week for some good online study resources...a couple of posts up another student posted a link to some helpful information for bones, you should check it out!
I have to say...my lab teacher told us that tissues would be THE hardest thing all semester and it was a breeze for me...I got 2 questions wrong on the lab practical and it wasn't even over tissues...I think she lied to me lol

Yeah, I would definitely feel lied too!
Well it seems to be so far so good for me! Our instructor just gave us "progress reports" last week and so far I have a 97.7......highest grade in the class. I got a 96 on the first lecture exam. Over HALF the class failed. We're doing bones right now though, its got me a bit freaked out. SOOOOOO much to memorize

Wow, congrats....:yeah:
Well we had our second test today - neurons, neurophysiology and the brain (our teacher is a neurophysician so 6 weeks on nervous system - PNS to come!). Managed to ace the test! So, amazingly, in A&P right now I have aced both tests - such a relief - actually got 104% as he put in two bonus questions as the class average was 66% last semester and he figured it was a hard topic!
Now if only I could understand what the hell my microbiology teacher was trying to teach us (he is all over the place - I have a Masters in genetics and have studied microbiology before, and he confuses me - my classmates are going nuts!)....

I hope it's liker that for me. We just started doing tissues today in lab and it seems a lot better for me than the chemistry stuff was. Lab and lecture are pretty much in sync now soh opefully, it'll be better for me..

Our class goes the exact opposite. We're at one place in lab and we're in a whole other zip code in lecture...and I have the same instructor for both. I think it would be more beneficial if lab would reinforce the matrial we get in lecture and so foth.
Good wishes for your som from m as well.
