Several had mentioned starting a study thread early so we could get prepared for our fall A&P class, so here goes. I have gathered several websites from both here and on my own, so wanted to post them early on so that we wouldn't have to search for them. Please feel free to add to them and also any advice or study tactics that seem to work for you.
Thankyou to Eveyone here at AllNurses who have provided so much information in one spot.

Ok, that's it for tonight....I have several others but hopefully this will keep everyone busy for a day or 2 :chuckle:yeah:I'm sure we all have diferent study habits and will need to find our own way there but I am hoping we can work together as a study team.
Maybe each day or two, someone could provide a study tip or an mneumonics for memorization for tissues or nerves, anything that is helping you learn. Or if you come accross somethin that you can't use, maybe someone else can.
OFF to Bed for me
I had my first class last night. Our professor told us we didn't need the lab book, which is nice since it'll save me some money. My teacher seems nice, but he just goes on and on about stuff. Last night he spent two hours talking about how to succeed in college. It was very boring, I already have a B.A. and a M.S., but I'm taking it at a cc, so a lot of people I guess have never taken a college course before.
Hey everyone, well my 2nd lab was on Monday! I'm EXTREMELY overwhelmed now! We went over the Appendicular Skeleton, for our lab test in less than 2 weeks we have to identify the bones (no big deal) and also all of the bones indentions (tuberacles, fossas, cavities, ect). We will also be going over the Axial Skeleton next monday in lab and will have to know all the bones and indentions also. I have a feeling this test is going to be SO FREAKING HARD! My teacher said that their our 2 sets of the bones in the library but you can only check them out for 2 hrs at a time! The only thing is all the other A&P I classes are going over the same stuff at the same time so she said they will be in high demand!!!
Seems like all of you guys have pretty easy classes so far! We started off that way but as soon as the hit this lab class, it's been chaos ever sense!
PoshGirl, you will probaly be glad you switched....I'm not so sure I could do 2 sciences. My next class is tomorrow and I am anxious to see what goes on.
ORnurse, we have everything in our lab...we were told we can schedule time to come in and review the models and skeletons at any time...we just need to confirm w/someone....there are several of each in there.
Welcome Yuan....glad you found the websites helpful
cracklin rose, we have models and disarticulated skeletons in our lab also but i assume (since she never said anything about it) that we aren't allowed to use those except for when we are in the actual lab class! i guess the ones in our library are for when you want to look at them anytime! i'm just worried their going to be checked out when i actually want to use them! i looked online to see how much a disarticulated skeleton would cost and they are way too expensive for me- over $200! i wish there was a place that would let you rent them for a week at a time or something!
well good luck to everyone who is now started or who has already started!
I had my first class on Tuesday and it seems like it is going to be tough. Tonight we have our first quiz. I am so nervous. This class is going to be overwhelming, but I am determined not to let it defeat me. We are going to start a study group. So far, there are only 7 of us in the lecture and lab.
First lab today! We dissected a freshly euthenized mouse. I thought I would be totally grossed out by it, but surprisingly, it was OK. I was the one that did all the dissecting too. Seems like its going be be pretty tough, but I'm pretty confident that if I do the work and study hard I'll do well.
I had my first lab yesterday. I already have to know like 47 bones by next Thursday. I'm probably going to make some flash cards ! I just finished reading chapter 1 and it was only 20 pages so it wasn't that bad. I'm just not looking forward to the other reading assignments because some of them are 50 pages long! Do you guys actually read everything? How do you stay focused? I feel like it's going to put me in a coma whenever I read it!

I decided to take my profs advice and I dropped micro. I've replaced it with speech.
