American Career College in Los Angeles

They are now offering an associates RN program now? I was looking through nursing schools at the rn.ca.gov website. I thought they were only offering lvn programs. Is this something new? Anybody has heard about it? I know for sure I didn't see them in the list of rn schools before!

Specializes in Emergency, Tele, Med Surg, DOU, ICU.

I think their program is pending approval. I know they are currently recruiting instructors.

They have had 2 info sessions for students that i know of, this coming semester is going to be the first class. I spoke with a counselor and i got that it is a new program and she didn't have all the details. Most likely it is going to be very expensive...prob around 70,000 for a ASN.

The first class starts 4/15. It's full time for now and 65k

Do they take prereqs from other colleges? I'm sure that would lower down the tuition.

Specializes in Home Health, Med-Surg, LTC, HIV/AIDS.

I wanna know that too. If they take prerequisites from other colleges

That is very costly. Have you read the reviews from the LVN program? The pass rate for the LVN is pretty bad across all the campuses some campuses have less than 50% pass rate.

Has anyone gone to the info session? What are the prereq classes taken before the nursing courses start?

I just spoke with them and because this is a "new program" they will not take any transfer credits.

While not the optimal situation, at least it is an option for many of the students in the area who can not get accepted at reputable programs in a timely manner and who can afford the high cost. I read the countless number of negative reviews on a ratings site, and came away with the feeling that I would not want to attend such a school unless I had no other viable options.

I have attended the info session, they do take pre-reps with a grade of A or B, you have to take an exam in order to qualify for admission, once passed with 75% or higher you have an interview.

Do do you know what the prerequisites are for the program? And what's the cost? Thanks
