Hello, I am 29 years old. I have been working in the medical finance world since I can remember. However, I am looking at taking the leap into rn. I am wondering if I am too old to embark on this journey. Any guidance would be much appreciated. Thank you
You're definitely not too old. I'm 38 and I'll be set to apply to nursing school next spring. There quite a few of us that are a bit older that have either raised families and are just now going back to school (like my situation) or decided on a career change, either by choice or necessity.
Still working on making the switch myself. Just applied for the 1st time to one school and I'm 36. I will be 37 in Oct with no idea if I will be starting the program this fall or starting the application process again. I currently have a job that has a nice 9/80 schedule...but what you need to ask yourself is, "Are you happy doing what your doing?" My guess if your on this forum then the answer is no. If I were only 29 and trying to switch lol The only time line that should matter is yours. I love reading posts from those 40+ going back to school...I think it's AWESOME! Just goes to show we all come from different walks of life but you need to follow your dreams without letting age get in the way.

What's like being so old?!? Seriously though, as other have already said, you're no where near old. I was 31 when I went to Paramedic school, 36 when I went to nursing school, and three years later...I just graduated this past Feb. Many people change professions at different stages in their life. Hell, I just found out one of my managers (from when I worked 9-5 back in my 20's) just started nursing school and she's in her 40's. So stop wonderin' and start applyin'!
How old will you be if you don't embark on this journey of career change?
The biggest regrets I have are the things I passed on, was too afraid to try or talked myself out of for some nonsense reason.
You get one go one the marble. It is never the wrong time to make the right choice!
Go for it!
Keep us posted!
