Nurses General Nursing

I have loved this site, but as I check , "Today's Posts", as is my wont, more and more, there are only student related topics.

What has happened here? Has anyone else noticed this? I have no problem with lots of students here, but I also want to participate in lively discussions with peers!

Farawyn: Does your use of OT in the last post mean "over the top" or "off topic"? Thanks.

I suspect off topic but some might interpret (not I!) as over-the-top.

I never used the app very much, honestly only if I was traveling and didn't bring my laptop. But why was it gotten rid of, does anyone know? I assumed they were just creating a better one, but nothing has replaced it, right?

I believe there was a security issue with it. I honestly never liked the app, the mobile version works well for me.

The only problem for me with the mobile version is that you can't go to a particular page in a thread easily. You can go to the first unread, you can go to the first page, or you can go to the last page. On the desktop you can go to page 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, etc....

Yeah, that is true. I just click in the browser to force the desktop version if I want to get to a certain page, then I go back to mobile. There is an arrow to go to the latest unread post in a thread that appears at the top of the original post, I have found that very helpful.

LOL!

OT is Off Topic.

I had good communication with the mods at the time, and I think we are all okay now.

I do tend to drift. I understand that, and it's not my board, so I have to Obey.

The problem is, I thought it was OUR board.

This post, re: The School Nurse Forum, Kooky...That's because you came in and tried to stir the pot. We may be welcoming, but we aren't doormats. We have no room for the NETY stuff you were trying to post. We are busy trying to be each other's co-workers. We are very protective of each other as well as new School Nurses. Keep your spoon on the General Board.

I left because of a few reasons, some of which I will not get into, but some I will.

I was initially moderated for being OT too much, and for being somehow influential enough to sway others to be OT as well. I was a huge AN supporter, and a paid member. I made lifelong friends here. The moderation was tough, though. Who knew my words were so powerful? I was hurt, I really was. So, I stayed away.

I know at least 2 long time members who quit AN during that time because of the way I was treated.

Once I got off AN, I realized I didn't miss it too much, outside of the School Nurse Forum and the Blue Side.

But then, of course, I did. I missed it. I missed all of you.

I came back to... no App. Which was HUGE in me not logging on.

I miss my signature, but I've not made up my mid to renew my membership at this time. The App made all the difference for me, and I think, a lot of people.

Then, the Blue Side got all mixed up. Our steady threads like Davey's Cartoon Thread and The Music Thread fell down the line as we posted in the morning thread.

As far as WILTW. ixchel is taking a bit of a break. That thread was THE reason I came to AN. It did get out of hand- mostly because we LIKED each other so much, but despite the OT, it always came back around to some sort of nursing. It was moved to Blue, then moved back, but moderated. It was the one thread in which students and nurses alike got along and TALKED. It was easily the best thread on AN.

The stuff I won't talk about- you COBs that are still here know what they are. WHO we are missing. WHO She Who Shall Not Be Named is, and others who have simply left because this site changed.

It had to after the Brian thing. I get that. It's my choice to participate less. I get that, too. I'm not whining about it. It was great for me. The SN board still is.

And yea, I'm still here, Emergent.

I wondered why I saw you less, Farawyn! I, for one, miss you a lot, especially on the SN forum.

The SN forum does rock and really is the reason I visit AN. It helped me find my way as a new SN and new nurse overall. So welcoming and informative! And we respect our own and can disagree respectively, which is amazing. Now, with a few years under my belt, I continue to learn new things there all the time, but I can give back as well. Circle of life, so to speak (cue Lion King music...).

I love, love reading true nursing threads for all sects of nursing because I just like learning from peers in different specialties. I tend to lurk more outside of my specialty, though, because I know it isn't my part of the pool to offer advice. (Though any thread on sexual education, I'm your gal!). But I do also remember the stress of being a student and will sometimes venture into the student threads to let a student know there is a light at the end of the tunnel. (To those willing to listen to such advice.)

PS: I guess in the minority, but I hated the app. I installed it, but found I never used it. I tend to connect on AN during the week when I'm more often at a computer.

I miss you. You are one of my AN crushes.

Farawyn! Have you been wandering? Where have you been?

.

Well, I, for one, miss you.

:)

See 2 out of 100k or so isn't bad! It's the quality that counts anyways!

I'm in that same group Jen-Elizabeth. I just don't use my cell phone for much besides talking on the phone and texting . . . which I hate to do.:sour:

Gimme my laptop at home or my desktop at work! You can see so much more!

As to ups and downs here - I've been here a long time and I've seen those come and go. I'm sticking around.

And yes, love the school nurse forum. Remember, lice don't jump!

I miss you. You are one of my AN crushes.

Since we're talking AN crushes, you and a lot of the regulars in the SN forum are mine! :) Also a few of the regular COB's...
