Yesterday was a great day to be out shopping because it was raining. My medical nurse wife Belinda and I went to, among other places, an antique mall and then out to eat at Joe's. We spent two hours at Joe's just talking about this and that. It was a wonderful date.
Among many other topics, allnurses was discussed a bit. Belinda knows quite a bit about this website and my allnurses friends because I'll make reference to them now and again.
Then, last night, I dreamed that I posted this:
How does allnurses bleed into other parts of your life?
I’ve been here for over 18 years and I still visit almost every day, if not multiple times a day. I was a moderator for six years and have been a Guide for 10. I’ve gotten to meet several of my AN friends in real life and we’re in contact frequently. The only other relationship I’ve had that lasted longer than my tenure here was my marriage! ?
::wavey:: Hi, Marla!
I believe there used to be IRL meetup gatherings in the past where people would, in fact, guess each other’s personas. I was never able to make it to one but have had the deep pleasure in meeting one dear online friend I met here, now passed on, and another who is still very much alive. There may be more of you, since we are all largely incognito. I would dearly love to reconnect c some of my old AN friends. Some things in life are beyond our control.
As some of us break away, come and go with the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, or otherwise ride in and out on the tides of life, I guess we have to heed more of my old grandmother’s hard-won advice: Don’t cry because it’s gone, smile because you had it. And be grateful we aren’t dead yet, like the guy in the Python’s Search For The Holy Grail.
Not dead yet. I say that often, LOL.

Loved your whole post, HB, but wanted to comment on this portion...
I watched a part of the movie ANON last night where futuristics have the ability to look at another and read their name and other identifying information.
I guess there's no HIPAA inthe future.
Anyway, I thought it might be fun to do some art giving my interpretation of a member's personality.
Fun for me, anyway.
But now that the sun is on the rise, I need to go out on this first day of Spring to make sure Jack Frost didn't get my little seedlings.
Happy Spring! And we're still alive!
Love you more.
I have spent so much time on this site at different points in my life that my husband once said he would divorce me if I didn't stop it.
I stopped for about 2 weeks and then had to go and tell him I couldn't live without All Nurses. Fortunately we're still together 12 years later. Will be married 45 years soon.
You guys have answered my questions that I couldn't find anywhere else, supported me through cancer (I'm still alive 10 years later). And just generally entertained me for a long time now. Thanks to one and all.
I spend most of my “social” time with a select few, who are either colleagues, regardless of “title” (ie:nurses, aids, RT’s,etc), but medically connected somehow. I would definitely be up for meeting a select few from here, if only for the fact that I would feel comfortable having inappropriate conversations while having beverages and eating appetizers!! ??
I'm up for a meet up.
Allnurses doesn't affect the other parts of my life. I will mention occasionally that 'I read on a nursing site' or 'online' about this or that.
I don't want people to go looking for what I have said here. I've revealed enough about myself that if one of my co-workers that knows me a little bit researched, they could figure it out it was me. That probably hasn't affected me at all, but I do like to stay fairly anonymous.
I’m just here for the comments...LOL...and while I’m waiting for the snow to melt and the mud to dry up, here in the White Mountains of NH...then I’ll be changing my handlebars on my scoot so I can ride with this ruined shoulder of mine.....and don’t worry guys...IDC if anyone sees this....I’m retired....??.#RETIREMENTROCKS #BIKERFOREVER ?
I try not to let AllNurses bleed into my real life simply because I don't necessarily want coworkers or family to know that I use the website. With that said, I'm sure they could easily identify me as a user should one of them find out. I'm also pretty sure that if AllNurses.com held an Annual All-Nurses Reunion and Get Together I would probably be easily identified. ?
