Yesterday was a great day to be out shopping because it was raining. My medical nurse wife Belinda and I went to, among other places, an antique mall and then out to eat at Joe's. We spent two hours at Joe's just talking about this and that. It was a wonderful date.
Among many other topics, allnurses was discussed a bit. Belinda knows quite a bit about this website and my allnurses friends because I'll make reference to them now and again.
Then, last night, I dreamed that I posted this:
How does allnurses bleed into other parts of your life?

Gives me examples of other behaviors I wouldn’t otherwise encounter. As my sweet old chain-smoking, hard-drinking grandmother always used to say, “Some of us are put on this earth to be examples to others. One way or another.” Gawd, I miss that grand old broad and think of her almost every day.

In accordance to what your sweet old chain-smoking, hard-drinking grandmother said:
As Richard Bach wrote, "Every person, all the events of your life are there because you have drawn them there. What you choose to do with them is up to you".
I choose to use every person, all the events of my life as inspiration for my art:

The allnurses members do that for me- give me perspectives that I wouldn't otherwise have and subsequently inspire my art.
One of the reasons that allnurses continues to be my favorite website is because of the members and their respective perspectives...
A definition of the word bleed is "to emit or lose blood", but in the instance of this thread, the meaning refers to "spreading into or through something gradually".
It is interesting to note that the 1969 Rolling Stones song, Let It Bleed, refers to "intravenous drug user slang for successfully finding a vein" but more so, "the song is mainly about emotional dependency".
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Let_It_Bleed_(song)
In a relationship which goes beyond an intrinsic one, intended to fulfill a means to an end, emotions can become involved.
A vast majority of nursing students utilize the allnurses website in order to gain information to assist them in their endeavor to learn. Many nurses use allnurses in order to gain understanding of the dynamics of nursing in order to become better nurses.
There are those who seek to gain a concurrent perspective in order to learn and understand. This search encompasses both the technical and behavioral aspects of nursing. Once behavior comes into play, emotions follow, and emotional attachments can be an intricate part of the relationship with allnurses.
Some of us feel an emotional attachment (dependency?) to this website. We feel a kind of closeness to our virtual friends, or a certain repugnance to some members' posts.
Experienced emotions often continue after the event has passed and we sometimes share our emotional feelings with those to whom we feel close.
Therefore, we allow allnurses to bleed into other parts of our lives.

I sometimes have this brief daydream where I and a couple of handfuls of the rest of you (those whom I somehow delude myself into thinking I have a "connection" with) have met somewhere and I'm challenged with trying to match up usernames with people in-person without knowing who is who.
I'm sure it would be challenging but I'm a little perceptive so maybe I could do it. ?

I make reference to this board at work. I keep it pretty abstract, like "I read on a nursing message board about".... when there's something that I think will improve my practice that I found here. I like the case studies, the articles and I've gotten some good tips. I don't advertise it specifically because as much as I hope this site thrives as much as possible, I don't really want to share it with my IRL coworkers because it's a great place to vent- even about them. ?
A meet up would definitely be quite an experience! I would like to think that there are a few people that I would like to be friends with IRL, but really, I'm not a great friend in person.

Meet up sounds fun LOL and @JBMmom why do you say you're not a great friend in person? You seem cool to me, and give good advice! I know virtual is different than in person. I feel I'm pretty much the same on here as in real life: nice but crazy and anxious LOL

Wrongway would annually request employees to fill out a confidential satisfaction surveys.
I am sure they never knew who I was, bing a 55+ year old male nurse that worked weekend option psych.

This rendition of Davey Do was done by one of my great friends on the cartoon website whose username is Me Its Me, a 20 year old young man from Argentina!
Really, I am who I am who I am pretty much across the board. However you feel about me from my submissions, I am just that in real life.
However, like mayonnaise, if you leave me out too long, I go bad.

A lot of my artist friends, including me, are just that way, LibraNurse. Not so much anxious, but full of fenetic energy, which is more of a public persona.
We enjoy bouts of socializing, but prefer much more to be alone and into our art.

LOL you are funny.
The answer to your question is no, by they way, for me. It does not bleed into my life. But meeting some folks here would be fun....

Well thank you so much. My online persona is clearly cooler than I am IRL. I'm a bit of a dork, and as far as saying I'm not a great friend, sometimes I'm a bit short with people and tend to forget they have emotions. I can be a little blunt and unintentionally insult people. Fortunately I have a couple great people that overlook my shortcomings and are friends with me anyway. ? It would be cool to meet you, too.
