Hello All!!
I'm starting my nursing journey as an Pre-Nursing student- RN. Did you start out in the nursing program or did you do your pre-req's first? Did you get into the program the first try?

Our program doesn't allow you in unless you complete all pre-reqs first. Just finished pre-reqs in December. Application deadline is March 1st. Won't know until the 3rd week of April if I'm in or not.

I was accepted to Johns Hopkins on my first try as well. It's a 17 month ABSN program, but I submitted my app early decision and didn't have any of the pre-reqs completed at the time, just my transcripts from my first degree. It all depends on the school.

The BSN program @ Kennesaw State requires a certain amount of pre reqs to apply. Not all pre reqs have to be completed at time of application. (7 out of 12 must be completed and 5 of those 7 must be within the math and science requirements) I have just started my pre nursing route so I'm not so close to that goal as of yet.

I took my pre reqs while I was finishing my Bachelor's in another field. I did it on my own (w/o being enrolled in a pre-nursing program), and now I am to the point where the only classes I have left to do are the actual Nursing I, II, etc ones. I just applied to 2 schools- won't hear anything until April though. You can do the classes without being enrolled in a program, but my advice is to check w/your prospective nursing school before you register for anything because it's been my experience that they are very particular about what classes they want you to take. Good luck, it's a long road but it's worth it (or so I've heard).

The school I am applying to requires pre-reqs first so I am taking pre-reqs at the moment.

I did most of my pre reqs first and did not get accepted my first attempt. However, they did encourage me to reapply for the next class after I had more sciences under my belt, which I did and was then accepted. Study hard, and really absorb the knowledge, and you should do fine.

My program won't consider you until you have some of the prereqs done, and you can't start unless you've finished them all. I did my prereqs, and I got in on the first try.
Congrats fl765. Hope all is going well
