I agree. I was nights in ICU step down then got recruited for a 'higher position' in the hospital. They told me i could 'get off the hellish night schedule' (which I never had a problem with at all). I am now Making money hand over fist, tired all the time and working day and night all the time. I miss my night crew so much I would go back to the floor in a second if the opportunity presented itself. I still hug them all when I see them.....we were such a team. Nothing like the day crew.
I still remember at the end of our shifts watching all the day crew come in all hurried and hapless and that phone would start ringing exactly at 7am shift change. Their day was shot before it started! I never knew how they did it! When I am done making all the cash from this position and ready to have 4 days off again I wouldn't even consider days...they don't get paid enough for what they go through and half of them were at work til 9:30pm anyways just charting!
Agree with what everybody has said so far. I am reluctant to trust the day walkers. I suspect many of them work days so as to be able to brown nose and smooze management for their own gain.
Umm, some of work day shift because of childcare, not because we want to, plus my body does not do well with night shift. I'm healthier on day shift.
Yeah love the suits. Got my nose shoved high up their A$$...NOT.

You know it's true!
What's the BEST thing about working nights (besides the differential)?
For me- it is the absolute sense of teamwork. Every job I've ever had on nights, those people became my friends. We depend on each other when the going gets tough. And I think all night shift health care people share a common bond- you can meet one in an airport and instantly have something to talk about.
How 'bout you??
