Hello all,
I have looked all over this site in hopes of finding others that are getting their packets ready and are applying to the Air Force this fall. I have not found any recent threads on this.
I am applying for an ER spot. I have been a RN for 7 years and work in a Level II trauma emergency center. I have my MSN-Administrative Leadership and TCRN. Is there anyone out there that is also getting their packets ready for October boards? My recruiter told me that because of COVID everything has been pushed back and that boards will meet in October this year. He also told me that I would be going to MEPS and doing my medical in the next 3 weeks.
So, I passed MEPS in end of Oct. My interviews (nursing chief interview and consultant interview) have been pushed back 2x already (from Nov, then Dec, and now the last thing the recruiters told me was that its going to be in January for the Feb boards). I haven't heard back from my recruiter in 3 weeks. And with the whole Legacy recruiting change, I haven't even spoken to my new actual recruiter, just another recruiter that oversees the other health ones, but doesn't know the details of my application. Im kind of at a loss. I holding onto hope, but its been frustrating. Does anyone know whats going on? Or have been through this? Any advice?

I spoke with him last week and he was going to ask if we can request an OTS class date. I connect with him again tomorrow.
That's a bummer. Yea, I would just stay on them and make sure you don't need to do any other paperwork. I mean, they technically have until Oct to get you in LOL but I wouldn't think they would be holding out that long.
@aferg002 that sounds frustrating. This recruiter change business has been strange but at least one of them has been contacting me continually to just check in with me and he said he can see all the details, even though the other recruiter is the one handling my orders and stuff. I would just press them. There's a big system that supposedly they can all see. My initial recruiter could even see where I had inquired and filled out an application type thing from way back in 2012. And your old recruiter should be able to give you the info on the new one. Shoot, my 2 new recruiters who are in different offices in different states even have each other's contact info and know that each of them are working with me. My advice would be to keep calling and asking for supervisors or whatever it takes until you get some answers. I do know that my interview was super last minute before the Oct boards just because that's what the Chief Nurse had available. Hang in there and know that a lot can happen in a little amount of time, but definitely be proactive in making sure they don't need more from you to get it all done. Good luck!
After two renal biopsies, a repeat of meps, and finally getting the surgeon generals blessing, I am finally awaiting orders. I was board selected last Summer and it’s been tough seeing everyone here getting their orders and assignments while sitting in limbo. Hoping for a class date reasonably soon and looking forward to serving the worlds greatest Air Force as a nurse practitioner! Stoked!
My original assignment I knew. Recruiter got the info from the nurse corps program manager and I got in contact with the base who verified they had me shared there. Recruiter believes it’s still in play, but the class delay due to meps may change that. To be fair nothing is concrete until orders are out. Hoping for the assignment though because we already found a house we’re going to put an offer on when orders drop.
@djmatte Congrats!! Sounds like a crazy process for you. The class dates are posted on the Maxwell Air Force Base official OTS website but I do know that the Feb class date is pushed back a week from what is listed on that site. IDK if that happened with all the classes or just the Feb one, but it would at least give you a ballpark idea of potential start dates for you. I think there's a new one every month or so.
I hope you guys get your info soon! I know that wait game is rough!
@scnurse2019 Oh no! That SUCKS!! How does that affect you while you're there? Will you have to stay longer or stop and go into the next class?? I'm so sorry you're having to deal with that.

@Trigirl80 did you get your class date??
@scnurse2019 hope all is going well!
As for me, I'm just over here waiting on orders, trying to study up, and trying to get as much stuff lined up for the fam as I can to make their lives a little easier whilst I'm gone!
