Air Force nursing FY2021

Published

Hello all,

I have looked all over this site in hopes of finding others that are getting their packets ready and are applying to the Air Force this fall. I have not found any recent threads on this.

I am applying for an ER spot. I have been a RN for 7 years and work in a Level II trauma emergency center. I have my MSN-Administrative Leadership and TCRN. Is there anyone out there that is also getting their packets ready for October boards? My recruiter told me that because of COVID everything has been pushed back and that boards will meet in October this year. He also told me that I would be going to MEPS and doing my medical in the next 3 weeks.

One of the ways you can meet the requirement for the retention bonus says having “Bachelors Plus”. Does that mean being working on your Master’s?

There are many ways to get a qualifying course for the consolidated special pay (CSP)...I.e. retention bonus.  The MSN is probably the hardest way to do it.

Bachelor's plus means 15 credits towards an MSN.  Honestly, just ask to do the essentials of critical care orientation from the ANCC (ECCO) or the ENA equivalent.  Those both count too.  Also, going to CSTARs (a 2 week pre deployment course) also counts towards the retention bonus requirement.

Oh OK thanks! I’m halfway done with my MSN so that’s good news because I’m just going in as clinical nurse so not sure if they would let me take those other courses right away.

Essentially you just have your official MSN transcripts sent to the AFIT/Wright Patterson mailing address in Ohio.  Then, your records are updated within a week or so.

@Sarm19 I hope the trip went well and that you're rockin' out the quarantining ?

Also, I hope everyone had a great Christmas and that those Jan class folks are all ready! ?

I’m just over here still waiting for an OTS class date and assignment. Anyone else in the Oct/Nov selection group still waiting for OTS dates or assignment?
