Hello all,
I have looked all over this site in hopes of finding others that are getting their packets ready and are applying to the Air Force this fall. I have not found any recent threads on this.
I am applying for an ER spot. I have been a RN for 7 years and work in a Level II trauma emergency center. I have my MSN-Administrative Leadership and TCRN. Is there anyone out there that is also getting their packets ready for October boards? My recruiter told me that because of COVID everything has been pushed back and that boards will meet in October this year. He also told me that I would be going to MEPS and doing my medical in the next 3 weeks.

I’m pretty sure you need orders, most things function off of that. But it doesn’t hurt to ask! We’ve personally never lived on base but always needed our orders to get much of anything done.

Yay Andrew’s! That’s the top of my list for CONUS bases - did you want to stay CONUS?
Also, do you know if they have an updated OTS class list? The only one I have seen on the OTS website doesn’t have April listed as a class date. It would be nice if they added one in!

I had 4 OCONUS locations also. I’m not sure about an updated class list. Maybe he was wrong and I’m actually going in March. Or at least I can only hope. He’s my new recruiter. I also switched after I was selected. And he’s a new recruiter so I’ve been also talking to my first recruiter to get certain information if he doesn’t have any answers.

I also have a new recruiter now that I’ve been selected - IDK how much I like it! I wish I could have the person I was comfortable with LOL ? my new guy hasn’t given me any new info. My old recruiter gave me my info about my delayed scroll yesterday and also said his goodbyes ?? So I will have to figure out my new guy now

I went ahead and sent an email tonight. I totally agree, never hurts to ask! Currently single and no dependents but looking into Alaska and not feeling optimistic about my options, LOL. Also just stressing about not having orders and having to figure out how to coordinate moving technically OCONUS now, shipping my car, etc... all in just 4.5 weeks. This will be an adventure for sure!

I looked up base housing for Keesler and for the application it says you can have a letter in lieu of orders for people who don’t have official orders yet so maybe that’s a thing at other bases too
So, first things first. Found out I'm in the Feb class today and my assignment is as expected here where my husband is so that's good LOL.
Next, there are too many things to quote for a response but here is my experience for some of it. As for the housing list, just do a Google search for the military housing office for the base you're being assigned to and call them and talk to them. Make sure it's the actual military housing people and not just the contract company for the housing (some bases still have military housing and some have "privatized housing" where you technically lease the house from the company, but there will still be a military housing office department with actual military people in it and not just the contract company). Tell them your situation and they can explain how to go about getting on the list. When we did this last year, the guy gave me his email address and told me to go ahead and email him and then to email him hubs's orders as soon as we received them and that he could get us on the list at that point and mark our eligibility for the wait list at that time. That way we could go ahead and get on the list and not have to wait until he was done with OTS. They were super helpful in telling me things like going ahead and making arrangements at the base TLF (temporary lodging facility) for 30 days so that we would be assured a place to stay when we arrived (which was super nice and was basically a 2br apartment for like $77/night). He told me we could cancel at any point and weren't obligated to the entire 30 days. You'll get reimbursed for up to 10 days of that for the move.
Also, to the one asking about the class date....if you have FB, look up Air Force OTS Class "insert your class number here" and join the group. The group I joined pointed out that the Feb class date was originally on for the 16th but has been changed to the 23rd. There is also a ton of helpful info from some members that are either currently in a class (they let them join the group to help) or people who are currently active duty that will be commissioning and going to that particular class.
And to the one who wanted to go before April, maybe double check with your recruiter again because my recruiter told me today that someone dropped out of the Jan class and there was a spot if I wanted to go in Jan instead of Feb but I don't so maybe it's still available?
I'm so excited for everyone finding out where/when and for those that don't know yet, maybe it'll be any day now!!

Child Development Center aka daycare on base. It’s known for long waitlists, they do go by priority though. They all function off of 1 website. My friend and her husband are both officers. They put their toddler on the list in July and just got a daycare spot for next week. Not duel military can take longer but really just depends on the base you’re at and the age of your children.
