Air Force nursing FY2021

Published

Hello all,

I have looked all over this site in hopes of finding others that are getting their packets ready and are applying to the Air Force this fall. I have not found any recent threads on this.

I am applying for an ER spot. I have been a RN for 7 years and work in a Level II trauma emergency center. I have my MSN-Administrative Leadership and TCRN. Is there anyone out there that is also getting their packets ready for October boards? My recruiter told me that because of COVID everything has been pushed back and that boards will meet in October this year. He also told me that I would be going to MEPS and doing my medical in the next 3 weeks.

Congrats! I still haven’t gotten anything ?? no word from the new recruiter even... So frustrating.

Same ?? hopefully we won’t be waiting too much longer! Did you put a preference for CONUS or OCONUS?

I was hoping for some info today too! ??.  I’m at 13 days or less to when I need to be there, kind of crazy!

I haven’t heard anything either but I did find out my scroll was delayed and JUST approved Friday. So hopefully this is my week.

That is so insane that you don’t have that info yet! I can’t imagine the unsure feeling you are going through - you’re a rockstar! Are you guys hoping to stay at your current base?

I put OCONUS. You? I wonder if it’s because of dependents too. I had to fill out another form for their medical and education history because they said won’t put you somewhere that doesn’t have the medical or educational resources to support them. Hoping soon. I’m such a planner and this is torture LOL

It’s a mix of feelings! Because dealing with a PCS to the states would be crazy right now since I couldn’t come back after training and we have a toddler but also, my husband has been overseas since 2014 and we really don’t want to add onto our tour here- April 2023 is our current rotation date. Fact: the last time I’ve been to America was 2017!! Crazy I’ll be going back but I still don’t get to stop and see family. Everytime we keep trying to go home, my husband gets deployed or now covid and we can’t. So our family and friends are super ready for us to be stateside to meet our toddler.

That’s a long time to be away! Where are you stationed again?

My husband is stationed at RAF Mildenhall, England. So I’d be slotted at RAF Lakenheath if they put me out here. They are super close bases about 10 minutes apart just Lakenheath has the hospital.

OMG 2017! How crazy! We have been here in Hawaii since 2017 as well - but with our family in Massachusetts we are awfully far away. My husband has a unaccompanied tour to Korea coming up and then is slotted for Germany so we will see what happens for us! We go through the same feelings as you, I’m sure. It is a constant internal battle hoping where we end up next! I really hope you find out soon!

I put OCONUS as well! My husband is doing a short tour in Korea and then is slotted for Germany afterwards so we just wanted to try and keep it the same but we shall see what happens! We don’t have any dependents, but you are correct with the EFMP. If they have needs that can’t be met/supported then they won’t send you there. Hopefully we all find out some info soon!

Hey everyone! I am new to the thread and attempting to scroll back and read everything but I just found out I am going to be in the February 23rd class too! I have SO many questions, so thank you @Fly-T-Nurse for the facebook group information.

I will be stationed at Wright-Patt for ER/Trauma nursing!
