Air Force nursing FY2021

Published

Hello all,

I have looked all over this site in hopes of finding others that are getting their packets ready and are applying to the Air Force this fall. I have not found any recent threads on this.

I am applying for an ER spot. I have been a RN for 7 years and work in a Level II trauma emergency center. I have my MSN-Administrative Leadership and TCRN. Is there anyone out there that is also getting their packets ready for October boards? My recruiter told me that because of COVID everything has been pushed back and that boards will meet in October this year. He also told me that I would be going to MEPS and doing my medical in the next 3 weeks.

How long after MEPS did everyone get an interview? I passed MEPS in October, and I feel that my application has just stalled since then. The last time my recruiter said was that he was going to apply for interviews and all. So I was wondering how long everyone has waited since then. Thank you!

Mine was a little over a month. Went MEPS in Aug and had interviews last week of September.

Awesome! Congrats! So exciting to be finding out and moving forward!

I did my Meps in beginning and middle of October. I had to go back the following week. I had my interview mid November and finished everything I needed to for my application that same day I had my interview. I am applying for the February boards as it is no longer January. Good luck on your interview! I watched a AF chief nurse Youtube interview which helped alot!

Oh wow nice. I had my MEPS at the end of October. Thats great that you had your interview a few weeks afterwards. I am just worried because I have my application all finished (paperwork uploaded and received) but its now December and I have no word as to where I am in the process. And I just got a call from a new recruiter who states that they are changing the whole recruiting layout of everyone now. I hope I have my interview, I was just worried that I missed it. Thank you for the advice about the Youtube videos, I watched some of that and good luck with the boards!

I bet that is so frustrating! I was so sad when I found out my recruiter won't be no longer with me! She is amazing. I just got an email today that she is the person I am still reporting to till boards. I was suppose to have my interview in person but my recruiter told me that chief nurses had a public health emergency due to covid. Maybe they are busy with that and the holidays. Hopefully you have more time for your interview since it got push back a month. What did you apply to?

Yeah its pretty frustrating. I haven't heard of any progress or updates for the past 3 weeks. But like you said its most likely because of covid and the holidays which is understandable. But I was supposed to get an interview in mid November, so its gonna be a few months now for it to be pushed back. Im glad that you are still in contact with that recruiter until boards. I've had now, 4 recruiters? And many of them are new and not really familiar with nursing corps recruiting. And thank you, I have been watching more Youtube videos to stay motivated and all haha. Im an ED RN. So applying to the critical care nurse position.

OMG I am so sorry to hear that! I can't believe you have had 4 already.  I have had one recruiter the whole time and we stay in contact 2-3 times per week.  She has been a health profession recruiter for 6 years now and with emphasizes on the nurse corp. Nice! Me to I sometimes watch Youtube videos to stay motivated. This is a great tread. I am learning so much from people in the process of getting accepted and getting ready for OTS LOL. Good luck with everything!

Got a 2nd OTS email today! This one has lot of very specific information regarding the documents needed at arrival, COVID screening etc, memo in the event of a positive etc. Mentioned NO mess dress for the Jan 5th class. This is due to they are not doing a usual group event. So they will decide as each class comes, I had already picked mine up just in case. Graduation is still a closed event, no family allowed. Still no orders! I can only think my mil to mil situation is maybe the reason... just so crazy how I seem to be the last one without them, in the first group to go, and having to quarantine ?12 days or less.

I finally got the WINGS email today which was great, but still no orders for me either! Hoping I get them soon so I can contact TMO and get going with arranging my move hopefully (but not likely) before 5 Jan.

Oh man! Really cutting it close... same I’m wondering if I need to be preparing to move or not! Hopefully you don’t have to quarantine as well. I saw we need to print off our precourse material certificates. Do you know do to this? I’m currently half way through, the courses show being crossed out and completed at the bottom but no certificate that I can see to print.

No quarantining for me, just coordinating my move to Alaska from St Louis which might just happen at the last minute. And I live alone so no one really here to help once I leave for OTS, might be making one of my friends my POA LOL.

I will let you know if I figure it out with the certificates! I'm just now setting up my login for the precourse stuff.
