Air Force nursing FY2021

Published

Hello all,

I have looked all over this site in hopes of finding others that are getting their packets ready and are applying to the Air Force this fall. I have not found any recent threads on this.

I am applying for an ER spot. I have been a RN for 7 years and work in a Level II trauma emergency center. I have my MSN-Administrative Leadership and TCRN. Is there anyone out there that is also getting their packets ready for October boards? My recruiter told me that because of COVID everything has been pushed back and that boards will meet in October this year. He also told me that I would be going to MEPS and doing my medical in the next 3 weeks.

Specializes in Intensive Care.

Still nothing from my recruiter as of today. I’ve been fingerprinted and security checked as of Monday. No assignment and no COT date yet. Fingers crossed it happens soon! He did at least tell me that none of his recruits were selected for January though so that’s a relief! ?

Specializes in OB.

Hmmm, I’m going with a bad sign that I don’t know what a scroll is. Talked to mine today, he said I’m getting a new recruiter, and no OTS date or assignment yet...??‍♀️

Just got an update from my recruiter he said I’ll have orders within the next 72 hours. Leave in 17 days or less!

Good luck!

A scroll is congressional approval that all officers receive before commissioning! My recruiter was saying it’s called a scroll cause back in the olden days it was literally a scroll LOL ? I’m assuming it’s a little more high tech and sophisticated by now but they seem to be taking forever so maybe not ?

Specializes in ER.

I found out today that I’m going to OTS April 6th and will be stationed at Andrews AFB in Maryland. I was hoping to go sooner but hopefully I’ll be able to get everything in order by then.

Specializes in Medsurg/homehealth/hospice.

I don't have my orders yet but been told will be stationed at Beale AFB...anyone else going out there? Wifey is excited cos she's done travel contract out of Sacramento. At this point I'm just taking a day at a time. I'm worried of marching drills than anything else....cos I'm a leftie.....?

Specializes in ER/Trauma.

That’s awesome everyone finding out where they are going!! I tried asking my recruiter if he could at least tell me where I’m going but nothing. I need to get my toddler on the CDC list ASAP since we’re mil to mil.

I saw someone in my class was told to report Dec 18th. A recruiter told me I probably needed to be boots on the ground December 20/21 but no orders yet to know LOL.

Actually didn't find my station from my main/initial recruiter found it from another recruiter apparently I've been passed/added on to other recruiters for the process.....so this guy calls and sounds so official asks a few questions then tells me if I still want to go to CA I say sure and that's how I get to know my station. He asks me if I have any questions and when I ask he says that would be answered by my initial recruiter (taking deep breaths here)........ it's going to be a nail biting process especially when I think I have to move my family with kids in the middle of a school year.....
