Affairs rampant among nurses?

In the couple of hospitals I have worked affairs among nursing staff seems to be unusually common. The two hospitals I am talking about are in different parts of the country so I am wondering If it is a nation wide phenomenon? What about the job makes nurses seek out an extramarital relationship. After what we deal with in the course of a day usually sex is that last thing on my mind at the end of a shift.

This made me think of the show Nurse Jackie. She goes into the backroom and has sex with this guy (a doctor?), it made me wonder if this really goes on in real life. Any nurses find that show believeable?

I've heard of a nurse and a RT going in the sleep lab. Unfortunately, they didn't realize the cameras were on 24/7 and security stepped in to end their time together...:p

Where I work, I've heard rumors, but not a lot compared to other hospitals in my area. Some of the rumors about other facilities makes me wonder how the patients ever got cared for. But again, they are just rumors. I've never directly caught anyone myself, but I think I'd be so grossed out if i walked in on some of the employees at my hospital. They are nasty looking enough with their clothes on :p

I have worked in 4 states and 7 different hospitals-I haven't seen this among nurses. Maybe they hid it well.....

Our lab instructor told us a night nurse at a place he worked at was fired for commencing a sexual relationship with a patient (young guy in traction, motorbike accident). Apparently they just closed the curtains!

Just to clarify the grocery store affairs. All (that I know of) just flirted in the store and had rendezvous elsewhere.

But I could see how thoughts could go thru your head while walking thru produce.
