Anybody out there applying to the UT Austin AEMSN program for summer 2012? Haven't seen any posts about our group of hopefuls yet.
Laflaca, I think I've seen you post on threads for other schools--good schools, but they aren't in Austin! One of the (many) reasons it was my far and away first choice. I intend on accepting shortly. Right after I drop two co-requisites that I had just started taking for one of my backup plans.
I'd love to have a neighbor in the program! Especially someone with your experience. From what I've read, you can already teach me a lot about the field.
I'm just sayin...
i'm in, too! yay!!!
i went for adult health with a role specialty in teaching, same as eastsider. laflaca, i will have to go back to see your concentration area, i can't remember. maybe they are deciding area by area. the rest of you, don't be concerned if you haven't heard yet. i was expecting to hear so much later.
i looked at the financial aid on the ut son site, and unfortunately much of it is expired. did everyone fill out the form provided to us via email that was due by jan 5? that was the priority deadline, but i think the final deadline was in feb. laflaca, i have spouse income too, so am not optimistic about being able to get much (if any) $ based on needs. however, the fact of the matter is, i am working now, but won't be come june. plus we will be paying tuition. yikes! if you see me wearing the same clothes several days in a row and losing weight, you'll know why! (hahahha)
i can't wait to hear from the rest of you that yes, you are accepted!!!
Yep, I'm adult health CNS and I asked about the upcoming certification changes. The answers were maybe not as detailed as I would've liked (it was during my interview, and time was limited). Basically, they assured me that the program will be compliant with the new Adult/Gero CNS requirements (since the plain old Adult CNS will be phased out by the time we graduate). I said that I'm not really interested in doing Gero specificially, and they responded that the new requirements incorporate gero content in several of the new licenses, but the adult/gero CNS will allow you to work with any non-pregnant person age 14 and up. It's not limited to practice with older folks. The director said that they already had a quite a bit of gero content in the adult CNS anyway, so they didn't have to change much.
However, like I said, we were short on time and they were short on specifics when I emailed.
I did not turn in the financial aid form because I was pretty sure I wouldn't qualify. But I'll fill it out before the February deadline; I guess it can't hurt.
Fingers crossed for good news all around! Hang in there everyone!
Hey!
I am new to this forum, I just found it because I was confused why I was asked for a second interview. It seems (from reading this forum) that this is because they are deciding on undeclared people? Can someone clarify if they have heard from UT? I just got the call for my second interview today, which seems much later than most people. I applied for the PMHNP track, if this helps.
Should I be preparing for an interview about psych/mental health, or just a generalized nursing interview? Are we guaranteed at least on the wait list (this would help my anxiety).
Thanks so much for the help from everybody who has already heard what is going on!
