AE MSN at UT Austin Summer 2012

Published

Anybody out there applying to the UT Austin AEMSN program for summer 2012? Haven't seen any posts about our group of hopefuls yet.

Ummmmm....did anyone else just get an email from the UT Office of Admissions saying they've made a decision? It says to log in to the "check status" page, which I did, and found this message:

Congratulations! We're pleased to inform you that you've been admitted to The University of Texas at Austin!

I would like to believe that this means I got into the AE MSN program, but I assume that admission to the Graduate School is a separate (and not nearly as exciting) thing? Since the nursing school is still in the middle of interviewing people?

Anyone else? I'm starting to feel like UT is actually messing with my mind on purpose...

I wish! I think that means you're probably in then! That would really mess with me too though.Orchidgal-- well let's both cross our fingers. Maybe we'll get to meet in June!

I've heard that you get an email from the Grad Admissions Office before the nursing school sends out letters...so you should be good to go! So, congrats in advance! I just checked my status and it still says 'in review' but I'll post if anything changes.

AAAAAAAAARRRGH! I want it to be true....yet can't believe it's true....yet can't start obsessively calling nursing school admissions person for at least 11 hours.

LizHope and orchidgal I am sending you good wishes. There could be some advantages to keeping your options open and not choosing a specialty right away.

Thanks guys! I was told that during the first year (no matter what we specialize in), we'll all be taking the SAME classes. It'll be so cool if we finally get to meet one another and we can support each other to survive the insane 60-80 hours a week! Also, I'll be a newbie to Austin so it'll be a definite change for me. laflaca..I am sure you got in so CONGRATS!! UT wouldn't be mean and do that to you.

I heard that we won't know until mid Feb-- maybe earlier. aaahhh...

ps, if we all get in, we should wear our name tags with our allnurses.com user name on them so we can recognize eachother..lol!!

That would be hilarious lol

Orchidgal just wondering do you know if she interviewed 16 ppl last year? I'm gonna ask her tmrw, wondering how many people got in off the waitlist

I'm not sure. I think the numbers must have varied. I think she said that this year, they had SO many qualified applicants that it was hard to give everyone a spot. Yes please ask her tomorrow if you can how likely are candidates off the wait list. I just emailed her to see what specialities will be open by the time class start so that I can read up on what options I have.

I'm in the same boat laflaca. I got the notification. There was a link to download a .pdf of the letter. The letter specifically states "you have been admitted to the Graduate School of The University of Texas at Austin for advanced study in Nursing - Alternate Entry."

I think you (we!) are in! PHEWWWWWWWW! I am so excited to starting planning for school this summer! Good luck to everyone who's been posting. Thank you for making me feel like I wasn't the only one who reaaally wanted this opportunity.

I guess the next step for me is financing...if anyone gets any good leads on scholarships etc., lets try to stoke that discussion---samianquazi, any input you have on funding school would be extremely helpful.

I look forward to meeting you all at orientation!

I think you're right eastsider....another friend of mine just told me he also got the letter...it's finally starting to sink in. Holy @#*! And congratulations to you!

I've been less worried about the funding at UT (because the other programs I applied to are INSANELY expensive) but yeah, now that you mention it, good idea to start planning. I did my FAFSA though my taxes aren't done yet, and I got a high EFC (have been working a long time and have savings/retirement plus a spouse's income). I don't feel very optimistic about getting anything need-based through the nursing school.

I want this letter!

Orchidgal I pm'ed you
