AE MSN at UT Austin Summer 2012

Published

Anybody out there applying to the UT Austin AEMSN program for summer 2012? Haven't seen any posts about our group of hopefuls yet.

Lol as soon as I get accepted if I do I'll buy it:) and I'll get cracking on my compliance.

Oh yeah, and the compliance stuff. (I think I posted the link re: that up here a few months ago.)

All of you guys ought to do that now, b/c all nursing schools will require it any way. I've even heard that some people who didn't have their nursing background check card submitted to the School of Nursing by the time the program started didn't get to even do clinicals.

So they have to wait an entire year and take those courses with your cohort.

That really sucks. REALLY sucks.

So do the compliance stuff!

If you SERIOUSLY want to get ahead, I guess you could go here and get some of these done:

School of Nursing | The University of Texas at Austin | Current Students

I didn't even know you needed Heartsaver First Aid for anything before I got into the program lol.

At least make sure your immunizations are in order, because you'll need documentation of them for any nursing program

Here's a reference to the compliance training link Samian mentioned for anyone who wants it!

So I just got an interview about signing up a time for an interview. I'm pretty confused.. I mean.. The program coordinator said there would only be one interview and here they are asking me for another one?? Yikes. I didn't even apply to a competitive program

Maybe it is to see if you're going to be admitted as an undeclared. *shrugs*

But if you're getting another interview, it can only be a good thing. After all, if they had a rejection pile of applicants, why would they give you a second interview if you had been put in that pile?

I dunno. This really weirded me out...lol. There are 30 slots for interviews on this google document

One thing to keep in mind - just because there are 30 slots doesn't mean they're interviewing 30 people! And don't worry, obviously they like you and want to hear more about you otherwise you wold not have gotten that email. An interview is never a bad thing! How soon do they want you to come in? Now I'm wondering if all of the tracks will be hearing about 2nd interviews..hmmm always a curveball haha

Gosh I just wish I knew what the heck the deal is. Thanks a lot I mean I'm sure an interview is a good thing but it kind of means that they haven't made up their minds about me...I really hoped that the first interview would be enough considering I'm applying to child health not CNS or NP. Who knows I guess I'll update after my interview folks.

lizhope, aren't you the one who wasn't happy about the fact that your (first) interview was so short? perhaps they want you back for that reason? who knows, the schedule of the interviewer that day could have changed and now they have more time? i think that it could only be a positive thing. be early! be confident! be ready!

also, i'm wondering about whether to be dead set on what you want to do, or if you should be more flexible - in case they are seeking candidates to be "undeclared" as others have mentioned. if it were me, i'd be thinking about a strategy there. or at least keep it in the back of your mind and see what it feels like at the interview.

i was wondering if they were still doing any more interviews. i wonder if i'm going to get an invite for a second. what is the date range that you can choose from? you got an email today?

Yeah I got mine today and the days are Friday, next Thursday and next Friday. And yeah my first interview was only 15 minutes. Dont worry if you don't get one, I mean it would be absurd to interview everyone twice. I'm sure there's some particular reason for me

I just got an email from Jennifer Tipton about scheduling for the 2nd interview with the graduate advisor too! I think it's the same document that LizHope opened because I also counted 30 spots. Hmm..I wonder what's going on? Especially since we both applied to different programs. I'm thinking that maybe this interview determines the final cut and that possibly, the 1st interview went well and that they like us and so with this interview, they are making sure that the Nursing school will approve.

Either that or maybe this interview is to decide if we don't get admitted to the program of our choice, then we'll be 'undeclares' as the previous post commented..

I don't know. It's hard not to think about
