AE MSN at UT Austin Summer 2012

Anybody out there applying to the UT Austin AEMSN program for summer 2012? Haven't seen any posts about our group of hopefuls yet.

hi everyone!

i've been following allnurses posts (on this thread and others) for so long that i decided i should finally go ahead and make an account! i was also accepted to ut's ae program-- for the maternity nursing-public health track! i am so excited and relieved, but also nervous to move to an entirely new and very different city (i'm from seattle). i met some really sweet girls at the interview and i wish i knew which of them were accepted too! maybe this is a strange question, but will there be a facebook group for the ae 2012 program? i might recognize some faces there.

based on this thread and the group that i interviewed with, i get the feeling that most people in this program are austin natives. is that true? i also wonder how many already have living figured out and how many wait until end of may/ beginning of june to move in to new places. i probably won't be able to move until then... when is the exact start date for the program?

The start date is the beginning of June. I actually just emailed them to ask the EXACT date, because if it is before June 4th, I could have some problems myself with planning it all out. I'll let you know. I also asked the question if there are any of the compliance requirements that pay to put off until it's closer to that start date.

Congratulations on being accepted! Wow, all the way from Seattle?! You will love it around here. I actually live southwest of Austin, but absolutely would never leave here. My area is not so much "hippie," hahaha, I think that is describing more people in the heart of the city, and I agree. Where I work now in South Austin, many of them have tattoos and some men with long hair. Yes, we are professionals, believe it or not! When I came here from Houston, I was surprised by that. The climate is perhaps going to please you the most coming from Seattle. People are super friendly, and most are concerned about being fit, too. I'm a parent, and around here, there are so many fantastic involved parents. I love, love where I live! So, I'd be great and SO convenient to live right inside the busy part of Austin, but do not eliminate living on the outskirts. The traffic could be bad at peak times, but I think it's very worth it, and I simply avoid the peak times. It will take me about 35 minutes (one way) to get to the UT nursing school. Not bad at all.

Wow! Seems lucky if I got that last seat. They told me they are scheduling interviews on Monday (as in multiple) but who knows if that is just how they phrased it. I am coming from Seattle, and no I didn't travel for the first interview.

Although you said the second interview wasn't really an interview .. I still find myself nervous haha! :D

It sounds like maybe multiple people did not express interest in being undeclared? Who knows. This all sounds kinda weird... But anyway try not to worry. After all, they already asked all the questions that they cared about in the first interview. I doubt this one is going to catch you off guard

wow! more interviews on MONDAY?? What is going on? I was hoping to hear from them BY Monday but I guess it'll be more towards the end of the week or next week then? Don't sweat this 2nd interview..like we both said, it's more to see if you have any interest in still coming to UT as an undecided. Well if there are people that are not expressing interest in coming, it just means our names are moving up to the admitted list..right? Let's hope so guys!

I hope so but this whole admissions process is just seeming too damn complicated and mysterious. I feel like we might have to wait up to 3 weeks and it's gonna kill me

Just think..when we do get in (thinking positively) and we are drowning ourselves with 60-80 hours a week of school/clinics/ rotations, etc..we're gonna be wondering.."What were we THINKING?!?" ;)
