AE MSN at UT Austin Summer 2012

Published

Anybody out there applying to the UT Austin AEMSN program for summer 2012? Haven't seen any posts about our group of hopefuls yet.

They have to know this is complete torture for the applicants. But, many out there (who are not on this site) do not yet know that some of the other applicants from other concentrations have already been notified, right? Would it be better not knowing? I feel terribly guilty.

Look, originally they said end of Feb/ beginning of March. I think being on the 2nd interview list can only mean good things. Besides, you can look at the stats of the applicants in the past on the UT website, to find that the # accepted and the # admitted vary. Not everyone who is accepted will actually come. For some reason, I can't find that info right now. Ugh. But it's a page for each subject with the stat information, such as GRE scores, GPAs, etc. and actual numbers of applicants, # accepted, # enrolled for several years. Dang, I can't find it now.

Lol I know when you're on the other side things seem differently. We'll just have to form a support network lol

Orchidgal26, you are so right! Hahaha!! You mention the complete lack of time that we will have, don't forget the complete lack of $$!!

But, it will all be worth it. We are all trying to make a better life for ourselves. The time will fly by before we know it, and then we will have those initials behind our names. :w00t:

Here's the link you're referring to -- https://docs.google.com/viewer?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.utexas.edu%2Fnursing%2Fdocs%2Fgraduate_faq.pdf I found it at the very bottom of the AE MSN page.

I just wish there was somebody else on here who applied to the Public Health track haha. I didn't get a 2nd interview, so at this point I'm either in or out. I'm assuming they're sending out invites in waves so its just a waiting game. I have to pray for some major patience to be sent my way LOL

So do you think the number of people they can accept isn't set in stone? at the interview she actually said that the undeclared have to declare by the end of fall be because then that determines how many spots they have open for regular msn applicants because once ae students have their rn they group us together. Complicated!

No, jh2011, that's not what I meant. It's more a stats document for all the degrees offered, not just nursing. You can see for several years all of the numbers. Very interesting. I've looked at it a few times, now where did I find it...?? Ugh, frustrating. I remember being surprised at the # that got accepted that didn't end up actually enrolling. Sounds encouraging for those who actually want to go, hu?

Omg I want to see this page

And another -- https://docs.google.com/viewer?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.utexas.edu%2Fogs%2Fprospective%2Fstats%2Fpdf%2Fcounts-by-major2010.pdf

This one just has a basic count of those who applied, were admitted, and enrolled. Very similar to the one I just posted.

I've never seen the document you're talking about for UT, but it seems common in these programs for students to decline their offer of admission (I read at another program that for a particular track, only 60% or so accepted during the first round. That was a really expensive school though, so I suppose money is a big factor. But for any program, a lot of students apply at multiple schools, and some are lucky enough to get multiple offers).

If all the "undeclareds" and the wait-list folks got in last year, that seems like good news.

In the letter I got from admissions, she mentioned that the second wave of offers would be at the end of February - which was, after all, what they originally told us. Hang in there folks!

Oh, yes! You are good. They have those stats for several years. 68 were admitted to the aemsn nursing, but only 59 enrolled. Where did you find that document?

Sorry - here's the main link I got the docs from, should have included it to begin with haha Admissions and Enrollment Statistics
