Anybody out there applying to the UT Austin AEMSN program for summer 2012? Haven't seen any posts about our group of hopefuls yet.
wow! very interesting statistics. They are good odds! Yes, don't get me started on the $$$$. I'm stressing about how to finance this as well! Since I can't work when school starts, I have to consider taking out loans not only for the school but also to pay rent as well. uugghh!! I heard it's hard to get graduate housing too. So I guess if I get accepted, it will be a pain in the butt for my finances if I choose to go too.
Yea..I applied for that Scholarship form that the coordinator emailed us awhile ago. It's not much though. I was told that it ranges from $500 to $1000. That's probably not even enough for books! I think the school is like 10-12k a year! I am debating whether I want to work right after my 1st year or just stick with it so I can graduate on time. I was told that it's better to just go to school straight and get it done rather than prolong it because certain classes are offered only in certain semesters.
FYI, I asked for the exact start date. The answer is either on May 31st or June 1st, which is a Thursday or Friday. Hmmm, seems like they'd just wait until the following Monday. I'm a teacher, and wow I'm going be in trouble if it's May 31st! That's our last day before summer break. I guess I'll have to clone myself and be in two places at once.
YES!! So you guys all had it right.. they offer 16 people interviews.. accept 11 and waitlist 5. All 5 wait listed last year got in. Seems like everyone who got an interview and accepted undeclared will most likely get in. YAY GUYS! Don't stress.
They pool the 16 applicants together and rank them like that.
ALSO -- we won't hear until mid-February. So a lot longer than you guys thought, but it's ok! Better knowing that you're going to have to try and take your mind off it for a while.

Looks like last year was significantly more competitive than preceding years and more people accepted
