Anybody out there applying to the UT Austin AEMSN program for summer 2012? Haven't seen any posts about our group of hopefuls yet.
I think it means that the Adult CNS track is currently "full" and so they are giving you an option of whether you would still like to be admitted to the school as an "undeclare/undecided" and so you would choose something else. I applied to the Psych NP track and that's what happened to me. The track is now "full" and so if admitted, I have to decide what other major I would like to be in.
A while back, samianquazi said he is in this situation from last year. However, he said (I thought) that he will get to choose of the concentrations available, rather than being assigned. I guess there are many variables, though, as to what might be available when that time comes. But if you get to choose, this could be good, being able to sort of "sample" all of the areas the first foundation year before you choose. I think it was difficult for us to make a choice when we have not worked as nurses yet. Our opinions could surely change once we take the courses.
Come to think of it, we haven't heard from samianquazi in a long time. Guess he had to go back to class and is now buried, with no time at all. Is this what we are asking for? Really??
hehehe :uhoh21:
Ok so from what she told me.. we start in June and choose that November (before we first year is over). We will get a lot of help from the professors and advisors about choosing the right track that fits us.
She also said that many people have done adult health cns with a psych clinical (because I applied for the psych np), which is interesting if it seems that adult health cns is already full (did she tell you this orchidgal since you also applied to psych?). She did tell me in some of the specialties they are allowed to take 12, but will only take 8 for instance to allow 4 spots for the undeclares. Did she tell this to anyone else?
Also, yes the "interview" was completely informative. You guys prepared me so no I wasn't nervous!
Thanks for the info KN4321! I wonder how much longer this "2nd interview" process will go on. At this point, I know they have talked to more than 16 people. And from what it looks like, they are scheduling more people this week if candidates are getting phone calls for 2nd interview requests. Sheesh...all this process for having a list of "undeclares?" Seems like a lot of work to me. Maybe candidates who got the interviews decided to forego their "undeclare" option and therefore, more spots are opening up for them to interview people? ahh..the guessing game is getting to me..lol.
Orchidgal, from what I heard that is exactly what is happening. They interviewed more than 16 people because some of the people chose not to be undeclared and so she didn't move them to the "undeclared" pile. From what I took on it it, in the end, we will only be ranked along with 15 other people.

Ok so I have been following you guys on this for a while now and decided to join in! I applied for adult health CNS. I have been waiting for a decision and today I got a phone call from Jennifer Tipton telling me I have a second interview. I am a little confused. I see that you guys are saying that means I may be one of the "undeclareds." but what exactly does that mean? Does that mean I cannot declare adult health CNS when the time comes?
