  1. Lol my success story of recovery from mental illness. I applied psych NP.
  2. Emails outI got waitlisted with 4.0, 1490 GRE, 1 year experience in psych hospital!!Wow bummer. Good luck all!
  3. goodluck-They don't interview
  4. For me it's important to remember how wide open this field really is.....being an RN doesn't mean going to the same hospital everyday! At a bare minimum, there is the possibility of picking up shifts at multiple hospitals. That's 2-3 times as many folks (read POTENTIAL CONTACTS) that you can meet! There are hospices, nursing homes, and drug/alcohol rehabs that need nurses. More contacts. There is home health care. You can use your nursing experience to get into pharmaceuticals or medical device. And remember the size and diversity of the school we're going to!! Oh my gosh, there is a law school, bioengineering, music and art...... Maybe you'll meet someone who wants to start an art therapy practice? Maybe you'll meet a sports management student who gets you into working with an athletic team? Maybe a musician, and in 10 years you are tending to the tendonitis in cello players around the world? It's not gonna happen the day we graduate, but there is so much opportunity out there! Don't be scared of lack of opportunity! If anything be freaked out at all the choices in life! This is just another step on the journey! Be proud of where you are now and trust that it will all work out....because it always does!
  5. Folks, there's always private practice once you get your NP. Lots of opportunities. Don't narrow your focus to being employed by others...think entrepreneurially.
  6. so i'm doing my fafsa, and on the "dependency determination" page it mentions that you "may want to answer questions about your parents if you are a health profession/nursing student." anybody have thoughts on that? my folks won't be involved in paying for school even though they have some money, and i make very little i.e.

  9. Hey yes FB group! I'm psych NP. Let's meet up!
  10. Actually, I think you are admitted and do the first year without declaring. After the first year they see if anyone drops out or any more faculty become available, and then you are assigned a concentration. Did no one ask this question at their 2nd interview?
  11. Hey everyone. Interview day was fantastic. All the interviewees were super nice, as were students and faculty. Any nervousness was gone about 5 minutes into Linda P's opening remarks, and the rest of the day was great. FYI just about every woman wore a black suit, and 3 guys wore ties and one (me) didn't. Relax, enjoy it, it was a great experience!
  12. Thanks laflaca. En route and a little nervous. I've been lurking this thread for a while and appreciate everyone's info. If anyone wants to meet at the Omni for a drink at 10:30 tonight let me know.
