  1. So I am starting to prepare for the boards and everyone recommends taking some practice exams directly from ANCC for like $175. I have scoured their website, but cannot find these offered anywhere. How can I locate the ANCC pmhnp practice exams? I am starting to feel like a failure already and I haven't even started studying yet.
  2. So I am considering applying for a job, but I have a DWI in 2001 that was dismissed and a disorderly conduct in 1998 for which I was convicted. Will I automatically be excluded? I am a voluntary participant in TPAPN, newly registered RN with almost 7 years of sobriety....long story. Anyway any help you can provide is appreciated
  3. TPAPN is the devil and from what I have experienced in my first 3 months is that the case manager is almost as worthless as your advocate. Neither of them have any power or advocate for you in any way. I have almost 7 years of sobriety and have never been employed as a nurse, but I am now RN now with f'n stips on my license while I try to complete my FMHPNP and get a job. It has been a discouraging and extremely frustrating battle all of which has been counterproductive to my already successful/established program of sobriety/mental health. I honestly feel my case manager and advocate should be ashamed of themselves....they are inept.
  4. TPAPN is the devil!!!!! Long story I have over 6 1/2 years sober and had it basically mandated by the BON. I was under the impression they were here to help recovering addicts, and figured there would be some kind of individual assessment that was realistic. Boy was I wrong. After $2k in start-up fees and required meetings etc etc etc....I have been asked to take numerous steps backward in my recovery not to mention the tremendous amount of additional stress and anxiety in almost every aspect of life you can imagine. The amount of paperwork, monitoring, and accountability might be good for a new addict, but is completely counterproductive and inappropriate for anyone with multiple years of clean time. Honestly, I think if I had it to do all over I would have fought this tooth and nail from the start. Pray you never have to deal with TPAPN....it is the worst thing to happen to me.
  5. I do not have any type of nursing degree yet. I am doing MSN program and in year one get my RN then 2 years get my MSN. This will be for the BON to allow me to sit for the NCLEX. Has anyone had a DWI before becoming a nurse and still been approved by BON in Texas?
  6. I will be starting work on my MSN in June and just got fingerprinted earlier this month. The TX BON said they want me to send in more information on a Disorderly Conduct and DWI I have from over a decade ago. Both cases were deferred out and I was not convicted, but I am extremely stressed out about this affecting years of dedication and hardwork to get where I am today. Has anyone experienced this before? How long did it take? Can you please tell me as much about what happened cause I am freaking out. Thanks
  7. FYI: I got in, Adult Health CNS. Email received today.
  8. Interviewed today, Adult Health CNS, went well
  9. I am still waiting to hear from them. Hopefully will next week so I can set it up for after finals.
  10. The more I read here and on the UT website the more I get stressed out. (fingers crossed...way crossed) So does anyone have any idea what the interview will be like? Possible questions...anything..Buehler?
