  1. I am going to be an advocate but not right away...I'd like 3-6 months without having to think about tpapn lol. I did stay in Victoria but was able to transfer back to cvicu when my narc restrictions were done....that was about a year ago. I am leaving Victoria in late august-early September but i'm not sure where I'm going .
  2. Thanks RNRutRo. It's been a long long road. I actually talked to my cm last week and she said I could be done after my second test in July...if they were back to back early in the month that would be awesome!
  3. Monica, hey I think I know who you are...pm me you email address, I don't have the upgraded membership. Lance
  4. I'm scheduled to complete TPAPN on July 29th (thank god) and i was just curious about the completion process. They don't give you a whole lot of info as far as what exactly happens. I know they send my employer a letter to confirm my completion, but does anything else happen? Is there any paperwork I have to fill out or a final meeting or something? Or do I just stop calling in on July 29th and get some sort of confirmation in the mail? My case manager said to call her when I had a few weeks left just to touch base, but I'd like to know what to expect. Thanks
  5. If she was taking 25-30 a day, then she had a serious life threatning problem. So by reporting her you may have saved her and finally gotten her the help that she needed. I'm sure it was a tough thing to do, but it was the only thing to do. And if she's not thanking you now, she will.

bigttu, Do you aleady have a misdemeanor, or are you facing a possible one? The other question I have is, is the misdemeanor for the same reason you are IN TPAPN? If so, just be honest with the board and with TPAPN and they will probably work with you since you are already in TPAPN. If its for something new, I have no idea what they will do. I knew someone in my recovery program that got a felony for forging a prescription and they didn't get any discipliary action on there liscense because that was why they were in TPAPN
  7. It really depends on where you work. I'm in TPAPN takes me an hour door to door to get back from a drug test. Its best to get to the place you will get tested right when they open so that you are in and out as fast as possible. I'm in med/surg and it generally hasn't been a problem for me, I just get a little behind and am playing catchup most of the day.
  8. Texas uses first lab too. For me its been every 2-3 weeks.
  9. Yea 7 is alcohol. I took that one today actually. What are 2-6? I only get picked for 1&7
  10. i'm in texas and in the tpapn program. my diversion issues were in houston, but i moved last month because i couldn't find a job anywhere in the area. i finally found a job in a town a couple hours south of houston so i basically just went where the work was. it sucks having the potential legal crap constantly hanging over my head though. i've come so far in the last three months, it would be terrible for legal issues to come now. anyway, feel free to email me anytime: moderator note, please do not post email addresses as per terms of service
  11. sl33y, buddy, you and i are in almost the exact same boat. i'm going on 3-1/2 months since my trouble started and i've yet to hear anything from the authorities. i've finished my treatment program, i'm actively involved in na and i just started my new job last week. things have really started to turn around for me, but to hear that i could be arrested a year from now is absolutely devastating. i really wish i hadn't read that. the lawyer i spoke with very early in the ordeal said i should expect to hear from the police in 2-6 weeks and that if a couple months went by i could maybe breath a little easier. so i've been feeling good about things until i read this thread. all i can tell you bro is really work on yourself and take things one day at a time. believe me i know that's difficult because i think i'm going to have trouble doing that myself now, but what other alternative do we have? hang in there and let me know if you want my email address and i'd be happy to share my experiences so far. lance
  12. Thanks. I actually got a job in Victoria wich is about 2 hours south of houston. My parents live there and I'm just going to live with them for about a month and then get my own place again. I know what you mean about not screwing it up for other people because the CNO said they had been burned by a few TPAPN nurses I was surprised at how confident I was in the interview with the CNO and I think that made all the difference in the world
  13. Today was a wonderful day. I got a job!!! They are going to let me do my narc restriction time in med/surg and then talk about transfering up to ICU. I didn't say anything in the initial interview, I just called the director a few days later and told her my situation. She was very nice and understanding and arrainged a meeting between me and the CNO. Things went well with the CNO interview and just as I was expecting them to tell my 'they will let me know', she started explaining my expected salary and shift difs. I can't remember when I've been so happy. Its funny, I would have never imagined being so excited to work med/surg after 2 years of ICU and 3 years as a flight paramedic, but I have never been more thankful. Thank you all for the replies of hope and advice. Its wonderful to FINALLY be able to concentrate on nothing but my recovery and not have this huge cloud haging over me. Anyone else still struggling for a job, just keep trying, don't give up. The harder it gets the happier you will be when you get that first offer.
  14. That may be where I've made my mistakes. I've told the HR person on each interview. However, they've all been very helpful and even searched for positions within the hospital that would be best suited for me. Most of the time a positions has come down to me and another canidate and obviously they choose the other candidate due to the fact they don't have any restrictions. I've applied to several dialysis units and I haven't gotten any feedback yet. Hopefully they will get back to me. Thanks for the replies. I'm confident I will eventually find a job, but with my I'm so finacially strapped right now, I need to find something sooner than later. I haven't looked into LTC's I may try that.
  15. hello. i am a nurse in houston, texas currently in the tpapn program. i've been in the program a couple months and have been searching for a job for the past month. i am applied at every hospital in the area and have been turned down at the few interviews i have been too. if i don't get a job soon i will be evicted from my apartment and i dont know where i'll go from there. i have two years of icu experience and i'm highly skilled and knowlegeable. i don't have any disiplinary action against my license. i just have the tpapn restrictions for the first 6 months of employment, but that seems to be too much baggage for everyone i've talked too. i will work anywhere. i just need a job. any help or advice would be most welcome. feel free to email me at [email protected]
