Called the BON..... $250 fine! Well, at least they didn't suspend my license... Thanks for all your help!

No inservices. What will the board do?

I have been audited by the Texas BON for proof of my CEU's over the past two years. I have searched everywhere and can only find 11.5 of the required 20 hours. What can I do? What is going to happen if I can't show proof of having all 20 hours? Thanks!
  4. I am about to start TPAPN soon. If firstlab says that I have been selected today, what do I do if I work 7a-7p that day? I know labcorp closes by like 5pm. Is there an "after hours" place I can drop off my urine AFTER my shift? Thanks.
  5. I had missed a couple of random firstlab calls, and of course some of them were days i was to be tested. I restarted TPAPN for noncompliance. My case mnager said some times the board will reject your current participation in the program, and then "board order" TPAPN. Tjat way the board has the final say...i'm not sure if the did that because i restarted due to noncompliance, or they were plannin on doing that in the first place?? On the BNE website it states they typically will recommend or order TPAPN with my type of charges....but, we shall see.
  6. The board rejected my participation in TPAPN. My case is still under investigation. Why would they do that? Is that a sign they might not give me the option of doing TPAPN versus suspension or revocation?? Pretty nervous right now...
  7. It's kind of like drinkin non-alcoholic beer to stay sober....
  8. It might help you, but I wouldn't rely on it. I tried naltrexone pills until they had my vivitrol shot ready. I drank one time while on each of these(seperate occasions) and i noticed it was just another excuse to allow me to give into the thought that i could be a "normal" drinker. I was able to get intoxicated on both drugs. I might have been a little more aware of what was going on, but had I got pulled over, my BAC would surely been too high. I think relying on these meds needs to carefully considered.
  9. KayceeLeeRN, There are a whole bunch of "yets" in the addiction world. You sound a whole lot like me. I pondered around the idea of the possibility of a drinking problem. I would maybe drink every 4-5 day to every 2-3 weeks. And I NEVER had "a hair of the dog" the next morning to make me feel better....God, that's the last thing I wanted! I did turn to xanax to put me back to sleep the nxt day because all I wanted to do was forget the night before. There's a saying in th Big Book.. "Fear sobered me for a bit, then came the insidious insanity for that first drink". I am new in recovery, and have been wanting to just forget about this drinking issue. But I've learned that's a form of denial. The "yets" might not have happened, but give em time. You will start losing things in your life that you thought you would never risk losing. I get tunneled vision sometimes, and the obsession and cravings "kick in". But.... I'm starting to realize that I have waaay tooo many things wonderful in my life to let this damn drug take over. I suggest you decide how important the things around really are, then pray. I know that if I roll the dice ONE more time and drink, then I might kill someone driving. And I couldn't live with that. And if I was in jail, I wouldn't see the birth of our child that's due in june. Keep it simple...and please don't worry about the future and your drinking. Just One Day at A Time! I pray for you.
  10. I would like to thank everyone who replied and has given me a great amount of information. It looks like it's time to buckle down and start putting those applications in everywhere! I'll take what i can get...That being said, i realize my sobriety must come first, or I will eventually lose everything. And there's way too many great things in my life to not give this everything i have. I thank God for being a merciful God, and I know that all I have to do is turn to him. I just need a reminder sometimes... :)
  11. I need an answered prayer. I live in the dallas area and I cannot find anyone to hire me. I worked PICU X 7 years, but when I put TPAPN down on my applications..i get either a no or no response. What areas hire someone like me?? I am desperate. My wife is pregnant and I need someone to take a chance on me. Thank you and God bless.

TPAPN does not seem to have a good advocacy support system. My case manager does not even seem to have any guidance on where a TPAPN nurse can get a job. Does anyone know any specific employers in the Dallas area that will take a nurse in TPAPN? Also, does anyone have any experience if the BON will suspend your license if u have a conviction of a misdemeanor, or is is it typically felonies they suspend?
  13. Hey Everyone, I am soon to start a new job in the Dallas area, and the closest TPAPN random drug screening is approx 8 miles away!! I don't know what to do with working a 12 hour day position and worrying about leaving the hospital to go test and come back and leaving my patients to someone else. I understand the rationale with random testing, but how does this all work?? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
