Hey everyone!
So I take my NCLEX next week and I am pretty nervous as this is a HUGE exam that determines a lot! I absolutely need to pass the first time... I cannot imagine having to go through this agony a second time.
Quick background: I graduated from my BSN program in May (2015). I purchased the HURST online Review, which I have been working on for the last 3 weeks. During school, there were classes that I struggled with, and times where I did not think I would pass. I am not the best test taker (never have been)...
My biggest concern is doubting myself on the exam, and changing my answers! Any advice from those who have already taken NCLEX... Specifically those who have taken it within the last few months?
How was the exam? Difficult? Was it similar to the exams you took in nursing school? If you had to take HESI Exit at your school, was it similar to that?
Anyone who took HURST to prepare, did you find it helped you and prepared you for NCLEX?
Thank you,
Kaitlin

Granted this was back in 2008, but I took Hurst online 4 days before my exam and passed with 75 questions the first time. I found it helped tremendously for NCLEX. I always recommend it to all new grads. I know some people didn't have any luck with it. But I've met more who did have great results with it and are now RN's.
Oh and I had to take Hesi and it was much harder than NCLEX. But that's my experience and I know you wanted recent test takers.

I took NCLEX on 7/1 and failed in 99 questions. I thought my exit HESI was more difficult. I took HURST review live in person days 1 and 2, i could take day 3, i bought the 3wk plan and watched all of review lectures online, i did all Qreview as well. I purchased the 3wk NCSBN,but didnt finish. My school offered ATI,did that as well. I would suggest searching on YouTube for any procedures that you might not understand and watching a short video on them. There were a lot of nursing consideration questions, about what you would do after you got a patient out of surgery. Good luck, and remember you can do this. Email me at [email protected] if you'd like, good luck
Did you find that hurst did not help you? Why do you think you failed?!
Thank you for the advice! I'm slightly regretting taking hurst... I've heard pass rate for those who took Kaplan is really high!
Well ill it's too late now, so I'll take full advantage of what I do have an just continue working my ass off.

The pass rate for those who took HURST review is also very high. If I learned anything in school, it was always go with your first instinct. Never change an answer.
Thank you so much! That makes me feel much better! Any other tips or advice to successfully pass nclex
?
And see I heard the opposite I had 2 coworker who took Kaplan and failed the first time. Both took hurst and passed on round two.

I did Hurst online, Kaplan question bank & the PDA book by Lacharity.
I did Hurst for content because I knew there were areas I was weak in. I could not afford the Kaplan class, so I got the Kaplan question bank for 1 month ($50) & thought that was really helpful! It gave me 1257 Kaplan questions that really prepared me for the format/difficulty of the NCLEX. The PDA book I rented on Amazon for like $15 & I used to notebook to write out answers/rationales. It was a tough book but HELPFUL.
Although I found NCLEX very hard, I passed. I had so many priority questions. Hurst helped me understand the disease process while Kaplan/PDA helped me narrow down answers using strategies. I could not have done it without those 3 resources.

Pass rate for Hurst is really high too. It's something like 98% for people who completed the entire program (all the lectures and Q-reviews).
I personally really liked Hurst and passed with 75 questions. I didn't study anything else; I didn't have time to.

I passed using Hurst & PDA by LaCharity on the 1st try with 75 questions. Hurst prepared me very well. It was worth every penny. I made sure to make flash cards of everything in the student manual & review day 5 materials on the website. PDA really helps with those Prioritization & delegation questions.
