hello everyone...have been viewing the site for a while...just recieved my letter yesterday so I decided to join lol....any suggestions for the fall and anyone else here who got accepted to NCC for Fall 08 day?
Nat is very right. It depends on how you handle stress. The nursing program is pretty much full time college and when you add other hard classes you may give your self a myocardial infarction!:heartbeat
There is one problem though... the nursing program at many community colleges are only part time yet it takes a full time schedule to make it through. Federal aid will only cover part time which is why many people try and take classes like micro and Anatomy while in the program. Its the only way to get full aid and possibly better loans. I do know people who have done a few classes while in the nursing program! They have made it thus far, so who knows? :yeah:If finances is not a problem I suggest taking all of the pre reqs now, this way you just have 4 semesters and your done!
My situation is a little different. I was hoping to talk to someone in the lpn to rn advanced standing because I have all the prereqs except for micro, child psych, and Sociology, which I can Clep. I would have to take a test and waive the first nursing course then I would take the 2nd one in Spring 09 with Child Psych. How long is the Micro class in the summer? When I went there yesterday, I saw how stressed some people were over their care plans. Oh boy. I hope everything works out for you guys. I hard students talking about how hard the program is.
Here is what I would do. Apply for the spring to take the test and hopefully get into 105, then get into micro in the summer. I had to force my way into micro by begging for the summer but the nicer you are the better the chances of getting in. This way if you should get into nursing 105 and take micro in the summer you can finish by Spring 10!
You know/... to be a full time student to receive health insurance you must take 12.00 credits... is the nursing program which is 8.5 credits per semester alone, with no electives considered full time? I already have an AA and already have completed all the pre-reqs and electives (except Micro which I would like to take over the summer while I am not in the program) I would only be taking 8.5 credits. Would that be considered full time student in the health insurance world?

You can get insurance through the school and pay 80 dollars a month for it. They like you to pay 4 months in advance but its good for now since your not going to humanly be able to take micro with the nursing! If you can your the smartest and most stress free person I know and then in that case you should just be a doctor!!!!
oh goodness no I do NOT want to take Micro or anything for that matter if I am taking the Nursing classes. But that whole health insurance thing is such a pain in the butt!! It's not even like you could take a 3.0 credit fluff class because that's still only 11.5 credits.. doesn't make sense.
I have a question for those who have been accepted already... I went to the nursing seminar in April of 08 and when asked if there were interviews the woman conducting the seminar was very strict in saying no interviews, no letters of recommendation I don't care if your mother is the principle of the school bla bla bla its all based on the numbers. But yet I am always overhearing people in my classes talking about how there is an interview process and even if you get a letter of acceptance it does not mean you are in you still have to interview.. is this true? Is there really a secret interview or is it just gossip. Thanks!

Its possible but the program is very intense so if you can take it seperately I think that will be the best thing. In fact since your still waiting to get in, I would suggest taking it now getting it out of the way.
