Accepted FSCJ Summer 2010 Students

U.S.A. Florida

Hey everybody!

I just wanted to start a separate thread regarding our acceptance into the FSCJ (a.k.a. FCCJ) Summer 2010 "RN" program. I know we've all been posting to the "hopefuls" page but now that we aren't "hopefuls" anymore, and we're more like "stressfuls"... I thought I'd start a new page... JOIN ME! :)

I guess it is technically called something else other than "RN program" but... here we go anyway.

I'm still a bit confused as to whether, during orientation, I should be more focused on getting a hospital close to my house or a teacher that will be great during my first term.

Does anyone have any suggestions on this? I've always made the teacher my first priority but I'm curious as to whether or not, those of you who have been there, think that there is a big enough difference in teachers that we would be wise to drive for miles to get to a specific one.

Thanks for ur response! otherwise i would have showed up to the meeting! goodluck to everyone on the tests!!!!

Hey everyone! got another question??!! Has anyone bought the hemostats already? if so ...where did u get them and which kind.? striaght tip or curved? any specifics? thanks:)

Google "bandage scissors, flat tip, 6 inch" and you will see the type they want us to have. Meridys has the kit with pen light, pen and scissors called "pocket pal" for about $12.:twocents:

thanks again! i guess i ordered the right ones!

I'm confused, what hemostat? I didn't read anything about that.

Hi gals/guys,

You have been so helpful to all my inquiries. I have another question. I will be taking the Chemistry class this fall on a Saturday and hoping to take A&P II online this fall also. Is this too much? How difficult is the Chem and the A&P II classes? As always, thank you for your answers.

I took chemistry via classroom and a&p2 via blackboard. I was also working full time and have 4 kids at home. I was able to make A's in both classes. You can do it.:yeah:

dwhite, I salute you. I thought I had it rough with 2 kids and mine are 14 and 10. Now I'm motivated as ever.

Thanks.

You can do it. Just put your mind to it and it can be done. Good Luck

On the sheet that says

Re:Uniforms, Equipment, Supplies You Need by May 10, 2010 (first day of Summer Term)

Line item #8 reads: 8. Pocket Protector and fill with 2 ink pens (black ink); pen light (comes in Skills Kit); 6 inch centimeter ruler; "bandage scissors (flat tip); recommend small (~6 inch) hemostat. You will have this in your uniform pocket each clinical day to use with nursing care.

I sort of used this sheet as an informal checklist. I made a copy of the sheet, and as I purchased my supplies I marked them out on my extra copy.

Okay, I see that now. I think by the time I got down to line 8 all the words started to merge together lol. I'll start looking for that now.

Hey everyone! Sorry I've been absent so long. I'm still finishing up my last 5 classes and I've been crazy busy.

Does anyone know anything about this "Mandatory Degree Audit Session"? It seems stupid to say "If you are in sections 1,2,3,and 4 you must attend 9-10am" but then on the same paper say sections 1 and 2 attend 11-12. What is this for?
