Accepted FSCJ Summer 2010 Students

Published

Hey everybody!

I just wanted to start a separate thread regarding our acceptance into the FSCJ (a.k.a. FCCJ) Summer 2010 "RN" program. I know we've all been posting to the "hopefuls" page but now that we aren't "hopefuls" anymore, and we're more like "stressfuls"... I thought I'd start a new page... JOIN ME! :)

I guess it is technically called something else other than "RN program" but... here we go anyway.

I'm still a bit confused as to whether, during orientation, I should be more focused on getting a hospital close to my house or a teacher that will be great during my first term.

Does anyone have any suggestions on this? I've always made the teacher my first priority but I'm curious as to whether or not, those of you who have been there, think that there is a big enough difference in teachers that we would be wise to drive for miles to get to a specific one.

The codes are only like $100 or $110 for both of the classes going through their website. They had said it would cost $100 if we bought the box. I'm trying to figure out if they are going to put the other 2 classes on the site and if we would have to pay for the codes for them if we didnt get the box.

I posted before I read this part. Yeah, I am confused now... from what I saw on the site, just for the pharm. code it is $59 for the online portion. I assumed if you buy the box the codes come with the books.

I'm not sure if they are or not

I think I'm going to have to traipse over to north campus with my crazy kids to look at the box and decide what to do. It might be easier to suck it up and buy the box, I'm just trying to save any money I can. :)

how many kids do you have? I have 6, but only 3 at home aging 4, 11, 15

So what is this Evolve site they're enrolling us into for?

Just got emails saying 2 of my professors enrolled me into a course on the Evolve Learning System

My understanding is -

There are two access codes in the box for two of the books, Pharm and Med Term. The instructors will give us the Instructors code to access them after the first week of class. These accesses are only for these two books, their practice tests and lots of great info. The e-box gives us access to all of the books for the entire program, all 4 terms. Can you imagine how much money this will save????

There are 3 codes... Medical Terminology Online, Pharmacology, and Online Videos Mosby's Nursing Video Skills (Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced Skills)

There are discs included with Phamacology, Medical Terminology, Fundamentals, Diagnosis, the NCLEX book, Physical examinations, and the Interventions (clinicals) Text (I shortened the names of the books)... but basically all the big books have discs included.

From what I've heard you wear the uniforms to clinicals and the polos with khakis to special school events and when you volunteer.
