Hey everybody!
I just wanted to start a separate thread regarding our acceptance into the FSCJ (a.k.a. FCCJ) Summer 2010 "RN" program. I know we've all been posting to the "hopefuls" page but now that we aren't "hopefuls" anymore, and we're more like "stressfuls"... I thought I'd start a new page... JOIN ME! :)
I guess it is technically called something else other than "RN program" but... here we go anyway.
I'm still a bit confused as to whether, during orientation, I should be more focused on getting a hospital close to my house or a teacher that will be great during my first term.
Does anyone have any suggestions on this? I've always made the teacher my first priority but I'm curious as to whether or not, those of you who have been there, think that there is a big enough difference in teachers that we would be wise to drive for miles to get to a specific one.
I'm really stressing about the book situation. Have we all basically decided that the cheapest way to buy the books is to buck up and buy the Term Box at the bookstore, and then go through amazon or barnes & nobles online for the rest of the books?
I just need to buy them, but I am trying to find the cheapest possible way. Everything is costing so much $$!
a friend of mine's husband is selling his term 1 books in 2 weeks... I found out after I bought mine... not that I could have waited 2 weeks for him to be done with them... Not sure how much he's selling them for but I can ask.
Yes, elizabeth1234 it was cheaper to go that route... just look for a coupon and free shipping from barnes and nobles when u buy the others.
I'm stressing because today is the payment deadline for classes and since I was only accepted on April 1 my loan stuff hasn't gone through... not even showing my award summary... just that my expected contribution is $0. I tried today several times to do the installment plan but the link isn't working and financial aid never called me back when I called this afternoon. I just sent an email advising the department of the issue and begging them not to give up my seat. It sucks since the office and website were both down from April 2-11 so I've been scrambling to get everything done this week.
Wont they have another payment deadline date after the 15th?
Dont know if it's like that for the nursing program.
Usually, they have different payment deadlines before classes start so the people who dont pay yet will have their classes dropped so people can have a chance to register for them.
Since there should be no other people taking our spots for classes, we dont have to worry about getting our seats taken after the 15th payment deadline.
They mentioned it at orientation (or at least at the mini orientation April 1). They said we'd be getting an email this week and that we'd be using the site throughout the program. I think there is a flyer about it in the packet too... but beyond that I have no idea.
I just logged in but it won't let you access anything without the access code it says is found on the inside of your book, which I don't have yet. Is the code a one time use? If we get the book used I wonder if it works? Also I wonder if we use that website a lot or actually have assignments due from it? If so, I would think the only route to go would be to purchase the box.
I have the books and there is no access code. They have a meeting on May 10 for us to buy the codes. If you didn't get the box of books then you can buy the access code on their site.
The booksthat are in the box are:
Saunders comp review
fundament of nursing 7E
Nursing intervention 4E
Nursing diagnosis 8E
pharmacology
exploring medical language
physical examination
mosbys nursing video
The codes are only like $100 or $110 for both of the classes going through their website. They had said it would cost $100 if we bought the box. I'm trying to figure out if they are going to put the other 2 classes on the site and if we would have to pay for the codes for them if we didnt get the box.
